OPM band Silent Sanctuary is gearing up for a new era as they sign once again with Universal Records.

In an exclusive contract signing on Monday, September 9, the six-piece band shared what would be their future plans now that they have returned to a record label after almost six years of being an indie band.

“Marami pa po kaming gustong gawin na music. Feeling po namin hindi pa namin nakukuha ang peak namin as musicians po,” the band’s frontman, Sarkie Sarangay said.

“More albums and sana magkaroon din po kami ng major concert kasi hindi pa po namin nagagawa iyon at vinyls. Sana makarelease po kami ng vinyls under Universal Records po, yung mga lumang album at future albums na gagawin namin,” he added.

New member Poch Villalon added, “Excited ako na makatrabaho ang UR and at the same time looking forward kami sa mga pwede naming gawin. I think yung potential namin as a band maging (better) kasi nakikita iyon ng UR.”

The band, which was previously formed in 2001, now consists of Sarkie, Anjo Inacay, Allen Calixto and three new members - Poch, Ronnie Rompal, and Kim Mirandilla-Ng.

With its new line up and return to Universal Records, the band set their goals to further their musical prowess and aim to reach their peak even after being in the industry for more than two decades.

“Itong line up na ito ay combination of the old and the new. This line up has been together since 2022. We’ve done great things musically, yung mga arrangements namin sa bagong kanta is something to be proud of to us pati yung mga lumang songs, we are giving a twist to it,” Anjo expressed.

“Gusto pa rin namin magexplore ng kung ano-anong mga music genres and kung paano gagamitin yung modern sounds na hindi macocompromise yung tunog ng Silent Sanctuary,” Sarkie added.

Universal Records Managing Director Kathleen Dy-Go also shared the record label’s plans for the band, including their dream solo concert and a possible musical play based on the discography of Silent Sanctuary.

“We are expecting more collaborations for the band. To formally announce rin that we are really preparing for the major concert next year for Silent Sanctuary,” Kathleen revealed.

“Yung tanong ninyo about sa musical, yeah may plano kami,” she stated.

The band then expressed their excitement, saying, “Nakakaoverwhelm kasi for the longest time pangarap lang namin iyon na magkaroon kasi natatakot kami and wala pa nagsusupport din na gawin ang mga gusto namin gawin.”

“Ngayon, nandito na ang UR to support us. Ang bilis ng mga pangyayari. Sana by February or ano,” Sarkie continued.

“Kakasign lang po namin and ang dami na pong nangyayari,” he stated.

He went on: “Sa part po namin, gagalingan pa po namin kasi malaki po yung tiwala sa amin ni Ma’am Kath at nang UR and syempre kami po magtatrabaho rin ng matindi para in return maging okay po yung outcome.”

Silent Sanctuary previously signed under Universal Records in 2007. They have now joined several Filipino artists under the same record label, including Gloc-9, Parokya ni Edgar, Shanti Dope, among others.

“I like to say nga na Silent Sanctuary na sila yung one of the few OPM artists na nakareach ng hundred million streams, specifically on Universal Records next to Parokya ni Edgar and Shanti Dope,” Kathleen said.

With a lot of exciting things to look forward to from the band, Silent Sanctuary expressed gratitude to their fans who have been supporting them since the beginning and promised them to give them more music to enjoy.

“Maraming salamat talaga sa mga una-unang naging fans ng Silent Sanctuary. Sana sa bagong music namin, suportahan niyo pa rin kami,” Sarkie remarked.

“Marami po kaming plano sa mga kanta naming luma, remastered version, bagong albums.”
