Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria is ready to show a different side as she takes on the role of Lavender, a mother who wants to get her child back in the upcoming series Lavender Fields.

In an interview with PUSH, Jodi shared how different Lavender’s character is from her previous roles.

“Evidently naman, ibang-iba si Lavender,” she said. “With Lavender Fields naman ay ano siya eh, internal pero maaksyon. Yung hindi mo siya pwedeng niloloko, yung hindi mo siya pwedeng binibiro kasi lalaban talaga siya. Ang nakakatuwa naman kasi sa kaniya yung core ni Lavender Fields  Ang core pa rin niya ay si Jasmine Flores. It’s just that kapag nanggigil siya nagiging reckless.”

Jodi also expressed her excitement working with her co-stars, including Jericho Rosales, Janine Gutierrez, Jolina Magdangal, among others.

“Personally, I was really excited and nervous at the same time. Some of them I have worked before and may iba sa kanila na first time ko makaktarabaho sa series. May iba na parang reunion and may iba na talagang first time,” she said.

She went on: “What truly excites me about, you know, about the cast of Lavender Fields is that, these are great, these are excellent actors na makakasama ko at hindi lang iyon kasi bukod doon sa pagiging magagaling nilang aktor, sila yung mga tao na masarap, madadaling katrabaho kasi mabubuti silang mga tao and for me, sobrang importante iyon.”

On Tuesday, August 6, Dreamscape Entertainment unveiled the full trailer of the much-anticipated series starring Jodi. The video has garnered more than one million views on Instagram.

In the trailer, Jodi was first introduced as Jasmine, daughter of Lotlot De Leon’s character who fell in love with Jericho’s Tyrone. The two will have a forbidden love that eventually ends with Jodi plotting her revenge on those who took away what was hers, wearing her mask as Lavender.

Prior to the full trailer's release, the Lavender Fields teaser had already reached million views since its announcement last June.

“I’m thankful siyempre doon sa mga taong patuloy na sumusuporta and I’m also grateful sa Dreamscape sa mga istorya na ipinipitch nila. Nakakataba ng puso kasi yung mga pinipitch kasi nila na stories na yung laging makabuluhan and something na naeexcite ako gawin, na chachallenge ako gawin and laging meron ibang side na naipapakita,” Jodi expressed.

As it also marks her first drama-action series, Jodi shared how she works on some scenes with the help of their fight directors on the set.

“I would say na right now, I trust our fight director, yung nagchoreograph ng aming mga fight scenes but I would say na hindi pa ako ganoon kaconfident na gumawa ng mismong stunts,” she remarked.

She also shared how she would check her other co-stars, especially Janine, after their intense fight scenes that were spotted in the trailer.

“As much as possible kailangan talaga na huwag makasakit (sa eksena). Each and every time kapag natapos ang eksena we always check each other,” she said.

“Pinaguusapan and we do rehearsals for it na parang, we do rehearsals on a separate day. Nirerehearse namin yung routine para sa day of the shoot, ishohoot na lang namin, kumbaga papraktisin ng kaunti and ipapolish na lang,” she added.
