After releasing her debut song “TYL” in 2019, Kakie (real name Simone Francesca Emmanuelle "Frankie" Cuneta Pangilinan) is definitely on a upward path when it comes to her singing career as she recently released the newest single “Romeo” which is part of her forthcoming album.

The daughter of power couple Kiko Pangilinan and Sharon Cuneta, Kakie went on a mini tour in Metro Manila this month to perform her latest music in various venues like Ugly Duck in Poblacion, Makati and Nook, in Alabang.

In an Instagram post, the 23-year-old artist wrote, “thank you lots and lots to everyone who attended our back to back romeo tour dates this weekend 💗😚 i hope you had the best time because we had a blast playing for you!! an extra special thanks to marion for the romeo-themed snacks too :,) it was so lovely to finally meet u!!!”

In another post, Kakie shared some insight on what went on while she was creating her latest single “Romeo.”

“I didn’t think i’d get so sentimental now looking back at the archive but it’s really been such a long time!! so please allow me this reminiscence.

"I started writing the yet-to-come album in its entirety as a conceptual body of work in 2020. Romeo had a slot on a theoretical track list right away bc of a character i wrote up in a series of fantasy novels still in-progress (the @kakiewrites readers deserve veteran cards, this song is for them just as ‘gone’ off the first EP was).

"it passed through a couple @kindredism hands and eventually found its rightful place in @cavillcavill‘s. this was the first thing we ever made face to face post-pandemic, and already was a firm indicator of our combined work style. we still never seem to tire of playing tug of war with any song we make—we have whole and strong ideas that sometimes clash, but always come out as something else, new and better-sounding and entirely unplanned. we meet in the middle, and obi that’s why we’re best friends. i love u even when i want to strangle u.

"i also want to thank @vincepasttense for helping out with guitars that we briefly considered but later scrapped in favor of synth pulses. it gave me direction anyway for textures i wanted to emulate so i feel some of romeo is still yours. and to @kenneth_amores, tysm for putting up with my endless nitpicking and mixing+mastering something so beautiful i can’t believe we made that?? that’s her!! YIEEE.”

Before ending her post, Kakie made sure to thank her bandmates and remind her followers to stream her song online. “i want to thank the absolute best band in the entire universe, especially the lineup that helped bring all my little ideas and notes to life on that one night we tried it and it worked: @gubbbbbs @iggymontelibano @heinyunderscore @justinpunzie @_teddyperkins. and to the additional players who learned it and tweaked it and put some glitter on it @ryannacino @jack.paraiso. lastly i want to thank everyone who waited (esp if you still remember all the old lyrics bc of my ridiculous indecision) 🥹 your patience is something i don’t deserve but will always be so thankful for. i love you so much! thank you for sticking around!”

Kakie is the half-sibling of actress and businesswoman KC Concecpion. She also has a younger sister named MIel. During the pandemic, Sharon’s younger daughters launched their podcast called “Y2K with Yellie and Kakie” which is described to be “all about their family and sisterly relationship, living thousands of miles away from each other, growing up in the spotlight and more.”
