Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson cleared up wedding rumors surrounding him and girlfriend, actress Julia Barretto.

During his contract signing event as president of his new business sports venture, Gerald denied the rumors and said that he would surely share the big news with the public if it actually happened.

“Kapag nangyari man iyon, it is not something na itatago,” he said. “I’ll be proud of that.”

The actor also revealed that when the rumors first circulated, veteran showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz actually contacted him to clarify the claim directly from him, which he denied.

Although it has been in his plans, the actor said that it is not yet the right time for them to settle down as both of them have a lot on their plates.

“It’s just, alam kong cliché pakinggan pero ang dami pang nakalinya pa… even her,” he said.

“I’m here as a silent supporter. Grabe. Alam kong pinaghirapan niya iyan. I’m just ganoon, that’s why it’s been like this kaya kami naging okay for so many years kasi because sinusuportahan namin ang isa’t isa,” he added.

In the past week, Gerald and Julia have been embroiled in rumors of getting secretly married in the US.

In Ogie’s latest vlog, the actor already addressed the speculation.

“Minessage ko si Gerald at ang sabi niya sa akin, ‘Ikaw ang unang makakalam kapag ikinasal na kami,'” Ogie said, “Salamat Ge sa iyong pagsagot. At least nalinawan ‘yan na hindi totoo.”

Gerald also expressed his support for Julia and her recent film, Un/Happy For You, with her former reel and real partner, actor Joshua Garcia.

“Sa totoo lang, awkward talaga ng trabaho namin, nandoon ako sa sitwasyon before. That’s why I tried to be as supportive as possible na hindi nakaka… I don’t want to steal the spotlight,” he continued.

Gerald went on: “Pinaghirapan nila iyan and I know how hard it is to work on a movie na gusto mo mapanood ng maraming tao. You just give it to her. It’s her time.”

When asked if he would be watching the film, Gerald answered, “Of course.”

The actor also showed his support for Julia on his Instagram story as their film reached more than 20 million gross sales on its first day of showing in local cinemas.

“Congratulations,” he wrote. “You worked so hard and deserve everything.”

Gerald added to Julia’s selfie photo, “I’ll always be a fan.”

On the other hand, Gerald shared why he helped others during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina.

“Siguro gratitude lang. Bata pa naman ako. I’m young and still strong, hangga’t kaya (tumulong),” he said.

He also stated that he never thought of any consequences of swimming in the high-level flood water during the disaster as he just wanted to help.

“When you’re in the moment, hindi mo na naisip iyon,” he said.

Gerald is currently preparing for an action movie with director Erik Matti and in talks to star in a new series.

“Hindi naman ako coast guard doon pero it’s kind of connected sa ganoong essence,” he shared.

“Sunod-sunod na nangyayari… I’m very full of gratitude, I couldn’t ask for more and as long as kaya, I will give back also,” he added.
