Currently making preparations to celebrate his 37th anniversary in showbiz with a concert called “The Original Prince of Pinoy Pop,” Dingdong Avanzado and his wife Jessa Zaragoza have been busy promoting the one-night only event happening on July 19, Friday.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited! It’s a full concert. People are going to hear my repertoire,” Dingdong shared. Dingdong is behind OPM hits like “Tatlong Beinte Singko,” Maghihintay Sa ‘Yo,” and “Makapiling Ka Sana,” among others.

During the concert presscon held last July 3, the couple were asked about when they were planning to have another child since their only daughter Jayda just turned 21 last month.

“Kasi parang di ko yata kaya (laughs). Kasi di ba, nakatira din kami sa America. Grabe kasi, ang hirap din kasi ng madaming anak so palipat lipat kami. Ang hirap. Puro next year na lang, next year na lang hanggang sa 45 na ang lola niya so parang hindi na rin kaya talaga. Hindi na keribels.

"(Kasi para kaming barkada eh. Parang feeling ko mas gusto niya mas kami na lang dalawa pero sanay na siya na ganun. Ganun naman kasi yung buhay namin talaga eh. Bukod sa tour, siyempre taga America din kami. Umuuwi din kami dun every four months, ganyan. So ang hirap. Imagine mo kapag meron kang maliit na baby? Tapos babiyahe ka. Si Jayda) Kahit nag-iisa yan, tinodo naman namin lahat talaga. Push, push, push talaga kay Jayda (laughs),” Jessa shared.

Answering the same question, Dingdong revealed that he and Jessa went through something very emotional because of their plans to grow their family.

"Actually a few years back, we suffered a miscarriage. Hindi natuloy eh. So I guess at that time... medyo at that time Jessa or we were both dealing with it, from a psychological and emotional standpoint. And yun nga eh, merong time element. Pero you never know. Never say never,” he admitted. 

As they have been under the spotlight even before marriage, Dingdong and Jessa shared what has kept their relationship strong and steady for the past 23 years. 

“Para tumagal ang isang relationship, kasi lahat naman may kanya kanyang personality so I think you have to learn to adjust with your partner and it’s very important that you develop a certain level of understanding of each other’s idiosyncrasies or you have to give the chance to that person to feel themselves. Dapat merong me time yan eh. So kami ni Jessa, meron kaming ganun. So we’re not always together. But at the end of the day, we are together and we tell our stories, kung ano yung nangyari sa araw.

"So those are some of the things na part ng relationship namin na siguro kaya tumagal ng ganun. It’s because we’ve learned to give each other space. And the most important thing is to respect each other. Dapat alam mo kung ano yung design ni God para sa inyo.

"Kasi may kanya kanya kaming roles in a relationship. So dapat you have to respect those boundaries. When we were starting, hindi pa namin lubos naunawaaan yun or naintindihan yun, pero as time goes on, we kind of got it na. Of course especially with the Lord’s guidance. Na dapat ang Panginoon nasa gitna lang,” he explained.

For her part, Jessa said that being each other’s number one fan also worked for her and her husband.

“Kailangan lang malinaw yung role ng bawat isa at saka bukas yung mind niyo sa reality, kung ano yung pang showbiz life at kung ano yung pang totoong buhay. Sa amin kasi ni Dingdong walang competition. Alam niya yung ganun? Napanatili namin yung ganun. Your success is my success, ganun. Walang insecure sa isa’t isa.

"Sa awa ng Diyos, nasanay na kami ng ganun and siguro dahil malinaw yung role namin sa buahy mag-asawa namin, hindi lang yung pagmamahal yung importante, same level yun na pati yung respect nandun talaga. And dahil pareho kaming artist, hanggang ngayon, nandiyan pa rin yung admiration ko sa kanya bilang artist na Dingdong Avanzado. Marami akong nagtutunan talaga sa kanya through the years na magkasama kami. And I feel so blessed na siya yung pinadala ng Panginoon para sa akin.”
