Angelica Panganiban undergoes hip cord decompression surgery for bone disease

<p>Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban revealed that she underwent a hip surgery.</p><p>In her latest vlog, Angelica remarked that though she was nervous about the surgery, she was looking forward to making it happen to combat the pain she was feeling in her hip area.</p><p>&quot;Atually mas excited ako. Gustong-gusto ko na itong mangyari, gusto ko nang matapos &#x27;yung nararamdaman kong chronic pain for the past two years,&quot; she stated.  </p><p>It can be recalled that in November 2023, Angelica disclosed that she was diagnosed with avascular necrosis.</p><p>Mayo Clinic described the condition as &quot;the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply. Also called osteonecrosis, it can lead to tiny breaks in the bone and cause the bone to collapse.&quot;</p><p>Angelica underwent a hip cord decompression surgery for seven hours on July 7.</p><p>&quot;Nasa recovery room ako, nanghihina. Sobrang sakit, hindi ko ma-explain ang sakit,&quot; she said after the surgery.</p><div><iframe width="695" height="391" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3cfrsDXS8AU" title="Hip Surgery | Episode 77" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>According to Stanford Health Care, the surgical procedure &quot;involves surgical drilling into the area of dead bone near the joint. This reduces pressure, allows for increased blood flow, and slows or stops bone and/or joint destruction.&quot;</p><p>Prior to the surgery, Angelica was undergoing platelet-rich plasma treatment. However, her condition did not get better so she decided to undergo surgery.</p><p>&quot;Napapansin namin na hindi ako gumagaling, mas nagwo-worse &#x27;yung pain, pasakit lang siya nang pasakit. Last week nagsusuka ako pagka-inom ko ng mga pain medicines ko, mga anti-inflamatory which is safe naman pero feeling ko nire-reject na ng katawan ko so suka lang ako ng suka and limping na ako maglakad,&quot; she recalled.</p><p>She and her husband Gregg Homan then sought for second medical opinion.</p><p>&quot;Nung nakita ng doctor &#x27;yung x-ray ko napansin niyang meron na ngang slight collapse &#x27;yung left hips ko. And isa pang nakaka-anxious kasi kasama ko na &#x27;yung baby sa bahay. Damang-dama ko pa &#x27;yung maga ng legs ko so nakaka-praning na sana hindi niya tamaan kapagka na-excite siya sa akin. Kasi dito sa hospital medyo maiiwas pa namin eh. Ewan ko lang sa bahay kung papaano &#x27;yung magiging sistema namin. Siyempre masakit &#x27;yung pain from surgery. Masakit &#x27;yung mga muscles ko pero it&#x27;s getting better everyday. Low dosage na rin &#x27;yung mga pain relivers na iniinom ko,&quot; she said.</p><p>Angelica would be put on a bedrest for three weeks at home.  </p>
