Miel Pangilinan shared her thoughts about the cyber libel case that her parents, Sharon Cuneta and former senator Kiko Pangilinan, filed against veteran columnist, Cristy Fermin, last month. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the celebrity daughter expressed that her parents did what they thought was right for their children who were being harassed.

Sharon and Kiko filed the complaint at the office of Prosecutor Dindo G. Venturanza of the Makati Prosecutor's Office in Makati City and was accompanied by their legal counsel Britanico Sarmiento and the Ringler Law Firm.

“A lot of these things that are being spread around by this person that my mom filed a case against, it leads to pretty much a lot of negative comments [about] me and my siblings,” Miel shared.

Miel added that these stories that were created ended up being a trigger for some people to continue spewing hate and malicious comments on their social media accounts.

“They rarely show us in a good light. So it kind of, it boils over, and the audience that watches this person ends up coming to me or my sister and blaming us, or just sending hate or harassing us. It affects us also. Parang dinamay pa kami,” she added.

She noted that her mom would do everything to protect not just her but all of her children. She revealed that she’s been a target of harassment on social media ever since the 2022 National Elections started.

“Obviously, my mom, she's going to do everything to defend her kids. It was kind of her, that was her tipping point… I’ve been told a lot that I was a waste of genes. Di ba? That’s a lot for people to [do], I get those comments a lot. It’s weird that I get those comments. And a lot of those came from people who don’t even know me,” she continued.

Previously, the Megastar shared the reason she filed for a cyber libel case against Cristy. She claimed how her children have suffered enough already on social media.

“So people picked that up and talked as if they live our lives when they see us and know what we’re going through… My children have suffered and ang sama ng loob nila. We’ve been off social media because of this. Ayoko ‘to eh, kung pwede lang. But it’s a message also, na artista kami, pero ang daming nakakalimot na nasasaktan din kami, di ba? Na hindi niyo rin naman kami kilala,” Sharon said.
