Filipino indie-folk collective Munimuni is set to headline their third major concert, ALEGORYA: A Munimuni Concert, this coming July 20 at the UP Theater in Quezon City. The band shared their excitement for their much awaited concert during the press conference for their show held earlier this week.

The concert will mark the band’s new era in music-making, which features new songs from the sophomore album of the same name, as well as some old favorites. Additionally, this will serve as an introduction to Munimuni’s current lineup–– Adj Jiao, John Owen Castro, Jolo Ferrer, Josh Tumaliuan, and Ben Ayes.

When asked how related the theme of the concert is to their album, the band’s vocalist Adj, shared that the two are intertwined. The title of the show and album were inspired from the Allegory of the Cave by Greek Philosopher, Plato.

“Isa siyang illustration na meron mga bagay na mas totoo kaysa sa mga bagay na nakikita natin on the surface. Medyo malalim na pag unawa yung panawagan sa album na yun and yung concert is one expression of that,” he shared.

“Another way to express the concept behind the album. Hopefully, yung mga pupunta dun sa concert mapapaisip sila ng malalim tungkol sa sarili at sa lipunan. Yun yung overall theme,” Adj added.

Their upcoming concert will also be the band’s first full-length concert performance since 2019’s Kulayan Natin at the Cine Adarna in UP Film Center. They invited several OPM artists such as Barbie Almalbis, Clara Benin, Keiko Necesario, and Sofia Abrogar of Any Names Okay as guests for their upcoming show.

“For the guest artists, we chose people who the band has been friends with for a long time and are artists that we look up to in the music scene. Some of them already have collaborations with us and some are collaborating with us for the first time. We are excited to see how they will be able to give a different color to our songs,” the band shared.

The concert is presented by GNN Entertainment Productions and Munimuni. Tickets for their highly-anticipated concert are available via bit.ly/alegorya
