Seasoned actress Teresa Loyzaga revealed that she was the one who put her son, Diego Loyzaga, into a rehabilitation facility for drug use. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda, the celebrity mom went into detail how she had to decide for her son’s future.

Diego was put into rehab back in 2018.

“There was a part of me that died, but I wanted my son to live. So I had to put him on rehab,” she stressed.

Teresa shared that her son “wasn’t himself” during those challenging times and she understood how to deal with him. Despite being disrespected by Diego, the 58-year-old actress maintained she knew the reasons for his actions.

“He wasn't himself then. We have to understand na yung mga mahal natin sa buhay kapag nalulong sa droga, pag kinakausap mo sila at binabastos ka nila, hindi sila yun. Yun yung gamot. Nung nawala lahat yon, bumalik yung anak ko. Then, naintindihan niya,” she shared.

She then revealed that even though she was the one who put him in rehab, she didn’t fail to pay him a visit even if he didn’t know about it.

“Hindi rin niya alam is bumibisita ako lagi sa kanya, kahit na bawal kami magkita. That was a part of his punishment for him to learn, to appreciate home, family. Napapanood ko siya sa isang maliit na monitor. Kung nasaan siya sa loob, kung kumakain siya. Nagpapadala ako ng pagkain,” she shared.

In the eight months that Diego was in rehab, Teresa never had the chance to talk to him and the closest they would be together is through a hole in a tarpaulin.

"Sabi sa akin, 'you have to promise na tatahimik ka, hindi ka magpaparamdam.' Sabi ko 'promise, gusto ko lang talaga makalapit.' Pagitan lang namin tarpaulin, nakasilip lang ako sa butas para makita ang anak ko. Ang hirap,” she maintained.

Previously, Diego shared with the King of Talk how difficult it was for him to be in the rehab facility.

"It was eight months until I saw the moon, it was eight months until I got to see the sun,” he previously shared.
