A new alternative-pop band is ready to take on the local music scene as Letters from June became part of KDR Music House’s artists roster last Wednesday, May 29, at the auditorium of La Verdad Christian College in Caloocan.

The newest band consisting of Renzo Compuesto, Michelle Fajkovic, Arvy Perez, Sean Villa, Deign Porol, and Ken Lunas expressed excitement about their new journey as artists.

“I am very grateful also that we are here together as a band, and we are starting off (with) something. It’s very exciting, and I’m honestly curious to see what happens next po,” Filipina-Bosnian keyboardist Michelle said.

Bass guitarist Deign added: “We are so happy po sa opportunity na ipinagkaloob… Hopefully po marinig niyo pa po yung kanta namin”

In November 2022, the members of the bands met in a school theater group where they started creating music together in a dorm room. The band draws inspiration from personal experiences to shape their songwriting skills and value each other’s contribution.

As per the press release, the band “crafts alternative, mellow, and cosmic sounds that are widely influenced by a diverse range of artists, such as Ben&Ben, The 1975, I Belong to the Zoo, Lizzy McAlpine, Coldplay, The Juans, and Conan Gray.”

Despite having different personalities and musical preferences, the band also aspires to showcase a sound that resonates with their unique style.

During their signing and official launching, the band performed their debut single “Bituin”, which delves into themes of love and longing.

The song was initially written by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Renzo as a personal ode that they later on “transformed into a compelling piece that reflects the emotional turmoil of unrequited love”.

KDR Music House also shared that the six-piece band is gearing up to stage the 13th installment of their Wish Date concert series via radio station Wish 107.5 that will take place at the Araneta Coliseum on June 30, as reported by Billboard Philippines.

Their debut single is also set to be the theme song of the upcoming Wish Date, “a hybrid short film and live concert concept, where acts like Julie Ann San Jose, Cup of Joe, 6cyclemind, Arthur Miguel, and more perform alongside a short film produced by the company.”

With a promising future as a band, Letters from June members are excited to make and share more music with a wider audience and are looking forward to achieving significant milestones with their new record label.

“It’s been our goal since I don’t know how long… Thank you po for all of your support. We are so excited to make more music,” electric guitarist Arvy said.
