Grammy Award-winning singer, Billie Eilish, released her highly anticipated third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, on May 17, and it has already taken the music world by storm. Within hours of its debut, the album amassed a total of 72 million streams on its first day, with the song “LUNCH” debuting at #2 on the Global Spotify Chart. Majority of the tracks from the album also secured spots on the same chart.

Billie’s approach to the album’s release — dropping it all at once with no singles — has proven to be a hit among fans.

In a recent interview, Billie explained her decision: “I just hate when it’s taken out of context. Every time I’ve put a single out, it doesn’t do what I wanted it to do. Without the family surrounding it, it feels so wrong and weird... I really like when I get to listen to an album and all of the music is new.”

The strategy paid off, as Billie rose to the #2 spot on the Global Spotify’s daily top artists chart following the album’s release. Fans worldwide have expressed their excitement and appreciation for the fresh and cohesive experience that Hit Me Hard and Soft delivers.

I don’t even know what to SAAYY... finneas and I put so much into this album and have never ever ever loved something more. We hope you enjoy it so much and I’ll see you on the other side EEEEEEEEEEEEEK HMHAS OUT NOW EVERYWHERE LOVE YOU ALL TO DEAAAAATH!!!”

Her brother and collaborator, Finneas, also expressed his sentiments on social media, highlighting the intense creative process behind the album.

“This album was written by Billie and me, produced by me, and engineered by Billie, Aron Forbes, and me,” he shared. “This album is my favorite thing I’ve ever been a part of making... when you’re in it, you might just have to try to keep swimming... you can only really see the ocean once you’re on the shore.”

Following the album’s release, Billie also dropped a music video for her song “LUNCH,” which has already gained 6.6 million views.
