Kapamilya singer Gigi de Lana announced the passing of her mother, Imelda, in her late night Instagram post on May 14 (PH time). This came after the singer asked her audience a week ago to pray for her mom who was then in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Gigi’s mom had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.

“Mahal na mahal kita. Pahinga ka na mama ko,” she wrote.

She shared a carousel of photos of special moments with her mother. Included in these was a photo of Gigi’s short hair which she cut in support of her mother who was undergoing chemotherapy for her cancer.

Several netizens and friends of the talented singer expressed their condolences and prayers in the comment section of her post.

“Hugs and prayers Gigi,” Ogie Alcasid wrote.

“Condolences, Ate,” Darren Espanto added.

“My deep Condolences Gigi, I'm sorry for your loss. Tita Mel is in a better place now. May she rest in peace. Praying for you Gigi,” a friend shared.

“Pahinga ka na po tita 🙏 Hugs bebe! We're always here for you! Pakatatag ka. 😢 Love youuuu,” another friend expressed.

Previously, Gigi sought prayers for her mother while she was on tour alongside her Gigi Vibes band for their sold-out shows for their Rated Gigi: World Tour.

“She’s fighting for her life now and I don’t know if pag uwi ko andun pa siya but I really wish she will be there. I really wanna hug her and kiss her because you know hindi niyo alam kung kailan mawawala yung taong mahalaga sayo,” she shared.

“I love her so much and please love your family kasi sila lang yung andyan para sa inyo. Trust me, they love you with all their heart. Mahal na mahal kayo ng parents niyo,” she added.
