SM Entertainment announced that NCT leader Taeyong will be enlisting in the mandatory military service this coming April.

According to a report by Naver as translated by Soompi, the agency said: "NCT’s Taeyong is enlisting in the Navy as an active duty soldier on April 15. There will be no official events held on the day he enters the recruit training center, and we ask for your understanding as his enlistment will be held privately to prevent safety incidents due to congestion on site."

SM Entertainment added: "Please show continued support and love until the day Taeyong diligently completes his mandatory military service and returns in good health."

Taeyong will be the first member of NCT to enlist in the military service.

Following the announcement, the K-Pop star took to WeVerse to pen a message for his fans ahead of his enlistment.

"Hello, this is Taeyong. It seems like the beginning of 2024 was only yesterday, but just in a blink of an eye, spring has already come. The reason I wrote this letter is because as of April 15th, I will be serving in the military," he posted on WeVerse as translated by the platform.

He went on: "Every moment was meaningful and all of it were happy times, so thank you for giving me those valuable and shining times as a present."

The singer remarked that he will be missing the fans saying, "Czennie, our NCTzen, we have grown proudly together, don't we. So that's why it feels more affectionate and precious. I think I'm going to miss you guys so much. I will be back well so all of you stay healthy and be well too! I'll be back soon!"

Taeyong debuted as part of NCT in 2016. He is also a member of the group's sub-units NCT 127 and NCT U.

In 2023, he made his solo debut with the release of his Extended Play Shalala.
