South Korean hit drama Doctor Slump showcased a Pinoy patient waiting to be treated by the characters played by Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik in its 15th episode. Nam Ha-neul (played by Park Shin-hye) was tapped by Yeo Jeong-woo (portrayed by Park Hyung-sik) to help him in performing a reconstructive surgery on a child with microtia–– a birth defect of a baby’s ear.

The child they were about to perform a surgery on happened to be a Filipino child who was with her mother, played by Cherish Maningat, a Filipino extra who has been part of several Korean dramas.

On her Instagram account, Cherish showed some behind the scene snapshots of the said episode. She shared how amazed she was with the production team as they were able to replicate an operating room in a studio. 

“Until now naa-amaze parin ako sa pagka-detalyado nila and pulido sa trabaho! Thank you so much everyone for watching and for all your positive comments, posts and ig stories! I really appreciate it! Salamat mga dongsaengs ko,” she wrote.

Prior to the airing of the show’s 15th episode, the Filipina actress happily invited her supporters to watch the hit Korean series. The Filipina extra has been on several hit K-Dramas such as Mouse, Dr. Romantic 2, and Stand By Me, among others.

Doctor Slump follows the story of Nam Ha-neul and Yeo Jeong-woo who were former rivals back in their high school days due to their intelligence. They eventually became each other’s source of strength after experiencing low points in their lives. 

This K-Drama marked Park Shin-hye’s return to acting after giving birth to her first child with her husband, Choi Tae-joon, back in 2022. 

The successful K-Drama recently concluded last March 17 with 16 episodes and entered the Top 10 Shows in the Philippines on the video streaming platform, Netflix.
