Kapamilya actress Janella Salvador and Thai superstar Win Metawin were very excited as they attended their world premiere of their film, Under the Parallel Skies, in Hong Kong, on Sunday, March 10.

In an interview with entertainment reporter MJ Felipe, the two expressed excitement over their film’s premiere, which was held at APM Atrium in Kwun Tong, Hong Kong and was set to be one of the special events of the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards (AFA).

“I’m so excited. I’m so nervous right now. This is going to be the first time I’m seeing this movie,” the Thai superstar expressed.

The two also shared their experience working together in the highly anticipated first Philippine cross-country film.

“It was a pleasure to be able to work with Win, of course, and to be able to premiere here in Hong Kong,” Janella shared.

Win also added, “(It was) awesome. You know, she’s very professional, and she helps me a lot, especially with the acting.”

The lead cast's chemistry was also seen during the interview as the two joked around about what words the Filipina actress taught the Thai actor.

“Masarap, kilig, mahal namin kayo,” the Thai actor enumerated.

“Don't say the bad word. Don’t say it!” Janella jokingly said.

Under Parallel Skies director Sigrid Bernardo and executive producer and 28 Squared Studios CEO Richard Juan were also present at the world premiere.

When asked about his message to his Filipino fans, the Thai actor is looking forward to seeing everyone at their film’s release in April.

“Yeah definitely. I want to see them,” he stated. “Thank you for the love and support as always. I’ll see you there.”

In a press release, the stars and creatives of the film expressed gratitude as the film’s premiere was part of the prestigious Asian award ceremony.

“[It is] a tremendous recognition of the hard work and dedication that our cast and crew have put into creating our film,” Director Sigrid said, noting how the event would serve as a recognition of the stars and production team’s hard work.

“I'm feeling extremely blessed to be part of this film and to be able to work with great talents. And I think we are dreaming big here. It is really an honor to be the first cross-country production from the Philippines that's going to be part of the Asian Film Awards,” Janella stated.

Win, who also came to the film festival to receive his Rising Star Award, expressed joy as it also marks another milestone in his career.

“It’s my first international movie, and it's the first time I've mainly spoken English throughout the film,” he remarked.

Executive producer Richard Juan also described being part of this year’s AFA as an acknowledgment of the vision of 28 Squared Studios.

"Being recognized at the Asian Film Awards with 'Under Parallel Skies', our very first film, is incredibly affirming. It feels like we’re receiving a nod from the industry that we're on the correct path with our vision at 28 Squared Studios,” he stated.

The film, which is scheduled for exclusive release in cinemas on April 17, 2024, follows the story of a Thai bachelor, played by Win, who travels to Hong Kong in search of his missing mother.

He then encounters a Filipino hotelier, played by Janella, who helps him navigate love, heartbreak, and healing in the foreign city amid their differences in culture and identity.

The upcoming film was shot in Hong Kong from June 2023 to July 2023 and features iconic local locations including Kowloon, Tai O, Peng Chau, and Avenue of Stars, making the country a suitable and meaningful locale for the film’s initial exposure.

Under Parallel Skies is set to show in several Asian countries such as the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros.
