Former WWE star John Cena made quite an impact during the 2024 Oscars show held earlier this morning, March 11 (Manila time) after coming to the stage with no clothes on. Audience gasped at the sight of the actor who was set to present the award for Best Costume Design.

The skit was done by John and the show’s host, Jimmy Kimmel, who earlier showed an old clip of a real streaker who disrupted the 1974 Oscars show.

The two gave a quick banter about their plan for John to run across the stage naked. The former WWE champion then admitted he was having second thoughts and felt insecure as he was lacking his signature jorts (jean shorts) look.

“Jorts are worse than naked,” Jimmy teased John.

During his spiel, the 46-year-old wrestler turned actor highlighted the importance of costume in a film to which brought laughter from the star-studded audience. The only thing that was covering his private parts was the huge presenter’s card which Jimmy gave prior to leaving him on stage.

“Costumes are… so important,” John quipped.

Unable to open the presenter’s card, Jimmy came back on stage to help John out in announcing the nominees and present the award.

Eventually, Poor Things was announced as the winner for the Best Costume Design.

John has been busy the past year as he starred and appeared in several films which included Oscar-nominated film Barbie. He is set to be part of the international film, Grand Death Lotto, alongside Awkwafina, Simu Liu, and Filipina actress Dolly de Leon.

Grand Death Lotto tells the story of a not-too-distant future where an economically struggling California has established a Grand Lottery. The only caveat is that the winner must survive until sundown to legally claim the multi-billion dollar prize.

Filming and release date for the film have yet to be announced by the producers.
