Korean actor Song Kang has been confirmed to be enlisting in Korea's mandatory military service this year.

On Thursday, February 29, the actor's agency Namoo Actors released a statement regarding his enlistment.

"We express deep gratitude to the fans who always show love for actor Song Kang, and this is a notice regarding Song Kang’s enlistment. Song Kang will be enlisting as an active duty soldier of the [Republic of Korea] Army on Tuesday, April 2," the statement read as reported by Soompi.

The agency said that there will be no official events to be held when he enters the recruit training center.

"He will be enlisting privately to prevent safety accidents due to congestion on site, so we ask for your understanding," the agency highlighted.

"We ask for the warm love and support of many people in order for Song Kang to return in good health with greater maturity after diligently completing his mandatory service. Thank you," the agency added.

Kang recently headlined in the hit series My Demon alongside Kim Yoo-jung, which was released in November 2023. He also starred in the second season of Sweet Home, which was released in December 2023.

Other acting projects of Kang included Forecasting Love and Weather, Nevertheless, Navillera, and Love Alarm.

In March 2023, Kang staged his first fan meeting in the Philippines at the Big Dome.

"I enjoyed this time with you so much and I will be going home to work even harder and I will come back to see you. Until then please be happy and healthy. Thank you for this amazing night," he stated.
