Singer and songwriter Kyla shared that she had suffered her fifth miscarriage last December.

In her recent guest appearance with husband, former basketball player Rich Alvarez, on Magandang Buhay, the couple revealed that the biggest challenge that they encountered as a married couple is giving their son, Toby Elsiah, a sibling.

“For us 'yung biggest challenge would be giving Toby a sibling. We've been struggling for years and years and years. It's been really hard, especially the very recent lang 'yung sa amin eh,” Kyla stated.

The "Hanggang Ngayon" singer went on: “Just before Christmas actually I suffered another one (miscarriage). 'Yun 'yung biggest challenge.”

Despite their sad announcement, the singer still expressed how grateful she is for having her 10-year-old son and being loved and cared for by her husband.

“But just I am also very grateful and thankful kasi at least nabigyan kami ng isa and kung madadagdagan pa, bonus na lang 'yon. Kaya siguro siya rin ang ibinigay sa akin ni Lord, si Rich, kasi I don't think anyone would love me like the way he loves me or ever will love me,” she remarked.

“Parang feeling ko mahirap kasi akong mahalin. Siya lang talaga yung magmamahal sa akin ng ganito. So I am just really thankful," Kyla added.

“I guess just raising our kid, our child is everything,” Kyla’s husband, Rich added.

The two have been married for more than 12 years. They had their church wedding in November 2011, months after their civil wedding in April 2011.

They welcomed their first child in 2014.

In 2018, Kyla suffered two miscarriages, only months apart.

In 2021, she then announced her third miscarriage to their unborn child Millie.

“My heart is broken in levels deeper than you may ever have imagined. Our little angel, please watch over me, your Daddy, and Kuya Toby. Send our hugs and kisses to your 2 siblings in heaven. We love you, our Millie," she wrote in a post.

The singer also broke down during a stage performance in 2021 where her song “Proper Heartbreak” was given new meaning by what she experienced.

“I'm sorry, guys. Minsan talaga nagiging vulnerable tayo. Medyo nakaka-embarrass. I'm sorry, guys. You can never be really ready for things like that to happen. I was never prepared, but I know there's an angel watching over me right now," Kyla expressed.

The couple continued to try having another child. However, Kyla suffered another miscarriage in 2022 where she posted a video of herself holding her baby bump.

“You have brought me so much joy, even for a few months that I carried you within me.. It was all pure joy. But losing you.. again..for the fourth time is unimaginable. I can’t even put my feelings into words,” she penned.

The singer added: “I find it so hard to share my loss because we didn’t tell anyone about our pregnancy. We wanted to share our excitement with our family but later on ended up sharing our grief. I am screaming and crying in my head and I couldn't tell anyone.”

She ended her post with a message to her unborn angel, “And to you, my little one.. I pray for you. I hope you’ve felt how much we longed for you, prayed for you and how much we love you.”
