After enjoying a trip abroad earlier this year, actor Joao Constancia said he was ready to jump back into work after returning to the Philippines earlier this month.

“Things are going great. I came back from out of the country so masaya ako na nakabalik na ako agad dito sa Pilipinas and I started working already for Can’t Buy Me Love. So ongoing pa rin yun.

"Ang dami pang aabangan actually. Hindi pa nga ako updated sa mga episodes namin kasi hindi ko napanuod yung mga updated scenes or episodes kasi ang alam ko, ang dami pang mangyayari. Lately we’ve been recording and taping sa mga eksena namin. Ang dami pang revelations tungkol sa character ko na si Carlo, tungkol sa mga co-stars ko, kay DonBelle, basta lahat kami ang daming revelations. So abangan niyo na lang yun,” he said.

The 27-year-old actor shared his experience working on the same set as popular love team Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano once again this year.

“Oo naman enjoy kasi I’ve been working with DonBelle since He’s Into Her and I’ve worked with Belle on other projects na rin. Right now it’s still fun. it’s still great to be working with them after all these years and I’m happy and excited for them talaga.

"As for my character getting a love team partner in the show, abangan na lang natin. Tingnan natin. Kasi ako hindi ko pa alam. Depende yun sa mga writers at sa mangyayari sa story namin, pero hopefully magkaroon din naman,” he added.

Aside from DonBelle, Joao also said he enjoys doing scenes with Can’t Buy Me Love  co-star Ruffa Gutierrez.

“I love working with Ms. Ruffa. Offscreen, she’s so funny. Ang dami niyang kuwento palagi. Pero pagdating naman sa mga eksena, sobrang seryoso and there are times I feel like I have to step up, you know, to get on her level. Kasi matagal na si Ms. Ruffa dito sa industriya and I want to achieve that goal rin to be that cool,” he admitted.

One of the most talked about scenes in the series also has Joao showing skin in his character Carlo’s shower scenes.

“(Laughs). Actually, nagulat rin ako sa mga shower scenes, sa mga hubad hubad eh. I wasn’t able to prepare for it but I guess nowadays, I’m trying to work out more and I’m trying to get to a healthier lifestyle and hopefully in the later episodes, mas maganda na ang katawan ni Carlo. So ayun (laughs),” he explained.

After joining local showbiz five years ago, the Macau-born actor revealed that he would love to pursue a solo career over one with a love team partner.

“Sa personal goals, I guess one of them is to become healthier this year, have better physique for myself and then for work naman, to have more projects and to portray more characters, more interesting characters, and to have more movies and telseryes pa. Honestly, I am really into the psychological. Gusto ko talaga na mapaisip yung mga tao sa character ko, kung bida ba or good guy ako, bad guy, at napapaisip sila sa istorya. So that’s what I’m really into.

"For me personally, I would love to be known as a solo actor. I want to be known because of my abilities, because of my acting. Yun lang talaga. Pero if I was given the opportunity, then why not? It’s always great to be paired. I’m willing to work naman with any lady,” he said.

After his breakup with actress Sue Ramirez in 2019 after dating for two years, Joao said he is ready and open to having a relationship again.

“Honestly, I don’t know (laughs). We’ll have to see. Whatever happens, whatever comes, I’m just ready for it and just willing to work on it talaga. The qualities that I’m looking for is someone loving, caring, and for me of course, it’s really important to be family-oriented,” he revealed.
