At a media conference during their signing with their new record label, Universal Music Group Philippines (UMG), the OPM band shared their excitement for their new song.

“We haven’t written a song together since 2009, so I guess everything happened organically, and maybe it was due for us to work on a song and a track together,” lead vocalist Champ Lui Pio said.

Champ also clarified that they did not disband, and they have just been performing and joining in low key gigs, festivals, shows and different events in the past years.

“We’ve always been active in playing. It’s just that we haven’t come out with new music. So we’ve been actively gigging since the last album in 2017,” the lead vocalist added.

The band shared what they felt while creating their new song.

“Kasi nag-flashback 'yung college days before na kaming dalawa lang ni Champ, kakakilala ko lang sa kanya nun eh, siguro mga less than a year and then out of the blue, bro may kanta ako dito tapos nagprepare siya ng mga CDs,” lead guitarist Roll Martinez expressed.

The 5-member band also shared how they felt hearing their new song.

“Na-excite ako, gusto ko siyang tugtugan siyaka noong inaayos yung areglo, sobrang bilis kasi namin magusap pagdating sa areglo,” he continued, “Pare-parehas kasi kami ng naiisip, parang naririnig somehow dito sa kanta na ito,” drummer Pao Santiago shared.

Violinist Chino David also shared how the pandemic and their musical maturity affected the way they processed and made their new song, which took a long time to flourish and be finalized.

“Few years since the last time we recorded a song tapos since the pandemic happened, nagkaroon kami ng chance to do, technically, our own things at home or at least hiwa-hiwalay, so this is medyo iba in a way. Even though nagsama-sama kami in one room to lay down the basic structure ng kanta, pero we took our time,” he told the press.

Chino added: “Yun siguro yung difference ngayon na we took our time, siguro weeks, months and between sessions.”

“Maybe also because of the musical maturity where we are now. We’re happy doon sa tunog na lumabas. Hindi minadali,” he remarked.

The band then said that despite taking a long time producing their new music, they found it really worth it and were very excited to share it with their fans.

“We are happy. Happy sa tunog na lumabas. Nung narinig ko ito, iba yung dating sa akin. I hope marinig n’yo yung energy sa kantang ito,” Pao said.

The members also said that while staging a concert for their comeback is possible, they wanted to focus on their songs first.

“So we really haven’t planned anything with that kind of scale, we just want to focus on the songs first, and it’s just January, very long January, but with our partnership with UMG, anything is possible and very much open with them leading us with what’s new and happening in the industry,” Champ said.

Hale was founded in 2004 and originally consisted of singer and guitarist Champ Lui Pio, bassist Sheldon Gellada, guitarist Roll Martinez, and drummer Omnie Saroca.

In 2008, Omnie left the group and was replaced by Pao Santiago, while Chino David of Silent Sanctuary became the band's fifth member in 2017.

The rock band are the hitmakers for the classic OPM songs such as "The Day You Said Goodbye," "Kung Wala Ka," "Blue Sky," "Kahit Pa,” and "Sandali Na Lang."
