Squid Game star Jung Ho-yeon is set to star in an upcoming thriller film titled The Hole.

According to a report by Variety, the Korean actress will headline the film alongside Theo James and Kim Jee-won.

The Hole tells the story of Owen (James), a professor living in South Korea. After a car accident leaves him bedridden and his wife, Sandy (Ho-yeon), dead, Owen is cared for by his Korean mother-in-law, Yuna. As Yuna starts to uncover disturbing truths about Owen and his marriage, his recovery faces new and unsettling challenges.

The movie is based on Hye-young Pyun’s Shirley Jackson Award-winning novel with a script written by Christopher Chen.

The Hole is set to be filmed in the US and South Korea during the first half of 2025, featuring a mix of English and Korean dialogue.

Ho-yeon made her acting debut in 2021 in Netflix's hit series Squid Game as Kang Sae-byeok, a North Korean defector who joined the survival game in order to win the prize money for her family.

She won the Most Outstanding Performance by a female lead at the Screen Actors Guild Awards following her performance.

"I have sat many of times watching you on the big screen dreaming of one day becoming an actor. I just want to say thank you so much. Thank you... made me dream and open the door for me. And I love you my Squid Game crew!" the actress said in her acceptance speech at the SAG Awards.

Before her acting debut in Squid Game, Ho-yeon was a Korean supermodel.
