It's been more than two years since John Prats did acting. In an interview with Boy Abunda, the actor turned director was asked if he has plans to return to television any time soon.

"'Yung last serye ko was like two and a half years ago... For the past two and a half years, I've been doing 'yung directing, behind the camera and I am really enjoying it," he shared.

John admitted that working in front of the camera is less intense compared to working behind the camera, but he enjoys the production life.

"Sabi ko nga mas masarap maging artista. Ang sarap talaga kasi darating ka, dala mo 'yung sarili mo, memorize 'yung lines, responsibilidad mo 'yung sarili mo but being a director is really hard because you are the captain of the ship. Tapos ang dami mong iniisip, ang daming problema but 'yung joy na bininigay niya sa akin ngayon is sobra-sobra and sa tingin ko 'yung acting di ko pa alam talaga, di ko pa siya nami-miss ngayon," he admitted.

John pointed out that it does not mean that he no longer likes acting but directing is something that he is just very passionate at about the moment.

"I'm not saying na hindi ko gusto [ang acting], di ko siya nami-miss ngayon. Sobrang nai-enjoy ko ngayon 'yung pagiging director, 'yung stress, nai-embrace ko 'yung stress eh," he said.

In the same interview, John talked about his life as a parent. When asked how being a father changed him, he shared: "Dati nung bata tayo when it comes to trabaho may choice tayo ka eh, 'Ayaw ko yan tanggapin, okay lang, puyat ako,  pagod ako,' may ganun eh. Ngayon bawal ka mapagod eh. Bawal ka umarte."

He went on: "Alam mo 'yung pinagpe-pray mo na sana maraming blessings, na sabi ko nga minsan meron kaming four events na magkaka-sunod na araw na hindi ko alam kung paano ko na talaga natawid 'yun na tumutungtong ka na lang tapos nangyayari na lang talaga siya."

John remarked that becoming a father means his main purpose now is to provide his family.  "'Yung purpose mo is for your kids and for your family to give them a good life," he stated.
