Bruno Mars reposts clip of ‘Kalokalike’ contestant Kent Villarba

A contestant of It's Showtime's "Kalokalike" segment caught the attention of Filipino-American singer Bruno Mars.

Kent Villarba from Cebu impersonated Bruno during the Kalokalike segment of the noontime show on Friday, October 4. A clip of Kent’s performance has since been posted on the Instagram page of ABS-CBN.

In the video, Kent sang a few lines from Bruno's hit songs, including "Die With a Smile," "Grenade," and "That's What I Like," impressing both the judges and the audience of It's Showtime .

Bruno Mars himself seemed to be impressed, as he reposted the clip from ABS-CBN on his Instagram Stories.

Eagle-eyed fans online were quick to notice Bruno reposting the video. 

"Bruno Mars approved!" one fan commented on the video.

"Bruno Mars reposted!" another fan wrote. 

Kent was one of the winners of "Kalokalike" on Friday.

It's Showtime  hosts and the segment's judges Jugs and Teddy were all praises for Kent's talent.

"I think you're one of the best contestants here ever," Jugs told the Bruno Mars impersonator.

Teddy added: "Ngayon lang kami natuwa na parang na-outhweigh ng konti 'yung kalokalike sa talent. 'Yung talent mo, grabe 'yung talent pare. Hanep na hanep 'yung talent mo. 'Yung accent, the accent - we love the accent - the attitude, the hair, the voice."



They also encouraged Kent to try to become a recording artist.

"Pwedeng pwede kang maging recording artist," Teddy said.

"If you don't win here you can join 'Tawag ng Tanghalan,'" Jugs added.

Bruno last performed in the Philippines in 2023 for a two-day concert at the Philippine Arena. 

"You look beautiful Philippines. We traveled a long way to come back to this place because we love this place so much. And we hope, we hope we can get this audience front and back, left and right to singing and dancing all night," Bruno told his Filipino fans during the said concert as previously reported by Philstar Global.

The Grammy-winning singer expressed his desire to return to the Philippines to perform again.

"I always wanted to play here. Thank you guys so much… I hope we can come back real, real soon. I’d love to see you all again," he remarked. 

Bruno was born to a Filipino mother and Puerto Rican father in Hawaii in 1985.
