On their recently uploaded podcast episode, Kim and Jerald shared how the actor actually made four different plans to propose to his now fiancé, all resulting in a failed attempt.

“The first plan was, sa July 2023, magbibirthday siya at anniversary din natin, July 22,” Jerald shared. “May plano talaga tayo mag-Europe. ‘Di ba may shows naman tayo and events na contract so kahit papaano may ipon tayo. Sabi ko, ‘Okay sige doon na ako magpropose’.”

“Si Kim kasi, gustong-gusto niyang mapuntahan, sobrang particular ni Kim ay sa Rome, sa The Coliseum. Sabi ko, ‘doon ako magpropose’ pero dahil nga ang taping namin noon ay Team A, hindi natuloy ‘yung July,” he said, as the two were scheduled to shoot for their show.

“Ang plano ko, nakita ko lang ‘yung Zinal Cave, kweba siya na glacier. Mag-hike kayo tapos makikita mo lang na ang fantastic niya, so sabi ko plano ko magpropose doon. Sabi ko, ‘Ito na iyon. Kailangan ko na magpropose kasi naudlot na kahit saan man dito’. Ayun yung plano ko na lang, tapos hindi na naman tayo natuloy,” he said.

Yet again, his plans fell through. As much as they wanted to travel post-pandemic, they made a mutual decision to put their planned holiday to Switzerland on hold to focus on their growing business.

“Noong time na ‘yun na hindi kami natuloy mag-Europe trip last year, December 2023, it was more of personal decision namin ni Jerald because during that time, binubuo ‘yung isa pang brand na business namin ni Je na ilau-launch pa namin,” Kim explained. “Hindi kami natuloy kasi financially, kailangan namin magtipid ni Jerald.”

“Third time was, ang nangyari dito ay sobrang fan tayo ng Coldplay. Noong tour ng Coldplay 2024, ano mamili tayo kung Pinas o abroad kasi lagi ko sinasuggest manood tayo abroad kasi mas mura. So sabi ko, Bangkok, Thailand: the place to be,” he recalled. “Noong Coldplay, sabi ko, nagkaroon na ulit ako ng idea kasi sabi ko Coldplay eh tapos ‘yung one of our love songs ‘Fix You’ and we consider ‘Sky Full of Stars’ our song, one of our songs.”

So kapag umalis ka doon, wala na, hindi ka na makakabalik.”

He continued: “Gusto ko siyang gawin sa gondola sa Venice, Italy. Balak ko maghire lang photographer and then, while pinipicturean tayo habang nag-iikot, magpopropose ako.”

Luck was simply not on Jerald’s side. He wasn’t able to anticipate just how long getting their visa would take, and it wasn’t able to arrive on time.

Despite the four failed attempts, Jerald was determined to spend the rest of his life with Kim and give her a proposal to remember. Taking matters into his own hands, he got creative and decided to bring Venice to Kim.
