Feng Shui

Filipinos are known for their fondness for good luck charms and zodiac signs, which made Kris’s 2004 horror flick Feng Shui one of the most iconic Filipino horror films, offering a unique perspective into Chinese geomancy to its viewers.

Directed by Chito S. Roño, the supernatural horror film revolves around the story of Joy Ramirez (Kris), who finds a bagua mirror that she believes will bring her and her family abundant blessings. Although their lives begin to improve, unfortunate accidents start to occur among her loved ones who look at the "lucky charm."

Fans should particularly note the scenes where characters begin to die according to their zodiac signs. The movie also popularized the eerie chant “May inuwi si Nanay, si Nanay sa bahay.”

The film spawned a sequel, Feng Shui 2, starring Kris and Coco Martin in 2014. Both films are currently available to watch on iWantTFC.

Sukob

Kris starred in the Filipino superstition-based film Sukob in 2006 alongside Claudine Barretto.

Sukob centers on the Filipino superstition that siblings or relatives should not get married within the same year or if someone in the family dies.

Kris plays the role of Sandy, while Claudine portrays Diana. The two, who get married in the same week, begin to experience strange occurrences and several deaths around them. They also have visions of a terrifying flower girl who seemingly haunts their entire family.

Kris’s film became the highest-grossing Filipino film at the time, earning ₱203 million from 2006 to 2009. The film is currently available to watch on ABS-CBN Star Cinema YouTube channel.

Dalaw

Kris returned with another horror-suspense film, Dalaw, which became an official entry at the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival.

According to its production house, Star Cinema, the movie is about a married couple and the mysterious happenings around them. “Three years after her husband dies, Stella (Kris Aquino) marries again, this time to her great love, Anton (Diether Ocampo). As they begin a new chapter in their lives as a married couple, they start to experience strange happenings that put them in danger.”

The film, which is currently available on the ABS-CBN Star Cinema YouTube channel, also delves into the Filipino superstition of marrying soon after becoming a widow.

Segunda Mano

In this 2011 film, Kris starred alongside Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban. Her character's secondhand handbag starts to bring misfortune into her life.

Segunda Mano (which means "secondhand") was an official entry to the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival. It follows the story of Mabel (Kris), who buys a handbag from an ukay-ukay (thrift shop) that happens to belong to her fiancé Ivan’s (Dingdong) deceased wife (Angelica). The haunting begins as people close to Mabel start seeing Ivan’s late wife’s ghost.

The film was directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal. Fans can watch the horror film on the ABS-CBN Star Cinema YouTube channel.
