Kapamilya actor Jake Cuenca renewed his commitment with ABS-CBN as he signed another contract with the Kapamilya network this October 23 at the Dolphy Theater in Quezon City. This historic contract signing marks the award-winning actor’s 18th year with ABS-CBN.

Jake first began his journey with the Kapamilya network with Love Spell: Home Switch Home which was followed by the hit teleserye, Sana Maulit Muli, where he played the role of Gerald Anderson’s brother.

He was accompanied by ABS-CBN chairman Mark L. Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo L. Katigbak, COO of Broadcast Cory V. Vidanes, ABS-CBN head of TV Production and Star Magic head Laurenti M. Dyogi, and ABS-CBN head of finance Rick Tan, among others.

After his contract signing, Jake was treated to a surprise video from different friends and mentors he has made in the showbiz industry. Gerald, who he considers as his brother, expressed how Jake deserves everything he has right now. 

“Deserve ni Jake yung career na meron siya ngayon it’s because of the hard work and dedication, work ethic, perseverance, always willing to learn…Jake deserves kung ano meron siya ngayon and even more,” Gerald shared.

Meanwhile, Chie Filomeno shared how proud she is of the Kapamilya actor for signing once more with ABS-CBN. 

“Jakey, congratulations for this milestone. I can’t wait to see more from you. Alam ko andami mo ng pinakita pero alam ko marami ka pang ipapakita sa amin. I’m just really happy for you because you deserve everything that is good in this world. Thank you for everything that you have done for us,” she shared.

Apart from Gerald and Chie, veteran director Olivia Lamasan and congressman Toff de Venecia recalled how it’s been working with Jake. 

Meanwhile, Jake shared his secret why he’s been in the industry for so long. He gave his advice to aspiring individuals who are eyeing to be acting in the future. 

“It’s determination [and] it’s ambition. At the same time, it’s this hunger for excellence. That’s why I do the repetitions–– it’s my commitment to my goals [and] my obligations to my dreams. It’s a sacred bond between the artist and its art form. That’s my advice to the aspiring actors, you have to love it, you have to want it–– really badly–– just as much you want to breathe,” he shared.

Jake’s latest series role was the hit local adaptation of the South Korean series, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, wherein he portrayed the role of Cyrus "Morpheus" Castillo–– the brother of Paulo Avelino’s character.
