Comedian Jobert Austria opens up about his life in Canada

Comedian Jobert Austria opened up about his life now that he is based in Canada.

In an interview at the media conference of Hello, Love, Again, Jobert got candid about his experiences as an Overseas Filipino Worker in Canada.

"Dito na ako [nakatira], kasama ko na ang pamilya ko. Bale international worker na rin ako kasi nagtatrabaho ako," he shared. "So nai-experience ko 'yung mga nai-experience ng mga international worker natin, 'yung mga kababayan natin, 'yung pagpapala ng snow, naranasan natin yan."

Jobert also relayed that he once worked as a construction worker in Canada but was let go immediately.

He shared: "[Nung] bago ako rito, nag-apply ako nagtrabaho rin akong construction worker, tapos siyempre puro Pilipno 'yung mga kasama ko. Nung pumasok ako, ang sisipag nila eh kaso nung nandon na ako kwento ako nang kwento."

"After one week kinausap ako ng foreman nila sabi, 'When you came nobody's working, always laughing, just eating.' So one week pinauwi ako," the comedian revealed.

Despite now being in based in Canada, Jobert still had the opportunity to do acting. He is part of the upcoming film Hello, Love, Again, which was filmed in Canada.

"Sobrang blessed po ako na dito na ako nakatira eh naisip na makasali ako and sobrang challenging kasi unang eksena ko po take 20," he quipped.

Jobert plays the role Lino, the uncle of Jhim portrayed by Joross Gamboa.

"Dito na rin kasi ako nagta-trabaho. Masaya 'yung character ko rito katulad nung mga ginagawa ko, kasama ko pa si Joross si Jhim," he relayed.

In the same press conference, Director Cathy Garcia-Sampana was asked how it was working with the comedian. The director pointed out that Jobert has natural comedic skills.

"Dati po si Joross ang clown namin. Napalitan na po siya ni Jobert. Grabe hanggang crew namin, tawa nang tawa, nangingiyak na sila sa kakatawa diyan hindi sa dahil umaarte siya ha, nakakatawa lang talaga siya," she said.

Before migrating to Canada, Jobert was part of several ABS-CBN shows including FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, Banana Split: Extra Scoop, and Toda Max, among others.
