The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has already reached ₱700 million in gross ticket sales.

In a report by MJ Felipe of ABS-CBN News, MMFF Chairman Atty. Don Artes shared that they already achieved their target for this year's festival.

"As of yesterday (January 2), na-reach na po namin 'yung target na gross receipts at meron pa po tayong natitirang apat na araw na showing," he remarked.

"Actually naka ₱700 million na as of yesterday. 'Yun talaga ang target namin, 700 [million]."

He added that he believes they will go beyond their target gross sales as people continue to watch the MMFF films in cinemas.

"With the influx pa with the moviegoers sa ating mga sinehan, we are looking at exceeding the target na 'yan way, way beyond our projection. I can say na great majority ng pelikula ay kumita."

2023's MMFF movies include Family of 2 (A Mother and Son Story) starring Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards, (K)Ampon starring Beauty Gonzalez and Derek Ramsay, Penduko starring Matteo Guidicelli and Kylie Verzosa, Rewind starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, Becky and Badette starring Eugene Domingo and Pokwang, Broken Heart’s Trip starring Christian Bables and Andoy Ranay, Firefly starring Alessandra De Rossi, Euwenn Mikaell, and Dingdong Dantes, GomBurZa starring Enchong Dee, Dante Rivero, Piolo Pascual, and Cedrick Juan, Mallari starring Piolo Pascual and Janella Salvador, and When I Met You in Tokyo starring Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon.

After the festival in the Philippines, the ten movies will have special screenings in Los Angeles, California for the Manila International Film Festival from January 29 to February 2.

“Through the MIFF, we can showcase, promote, and help uplift Filipino films from the Philippines to Hollywood, and hopefully, to other parts of the world,” Atty. Artes remarked in a press release by MMDA in October 2023.

He continued: “MIFF also aims to bridge the gap between two worlds and connect the Philippine entertainment sector to Hollywood and the global stage.”
