Streaming giant Netflix confirmed that Korean stars IU and Park Bo-gum are set to star in a new drama with the working title When Life Gives You Tangerines.

The series will follow the story of Ae Sun and Gwan Sik who were both born on Jeju island. The story will take place in the 1950s.

Fans online were quick to express their excitement about the news.

"My long wait is coming to an end 🤩🤩," one fan commented.

"Aaaaaaa my two ultimate faves🫰🏼🫰🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼," one fan wrote.  

IU will portray the courageous and stubborn character Ae Sun. Meanwhile, Bo-gum will play the role of timid but dependable Gwan Sik.

Lim Sang Chun will be writing the script for the series while Kim Won Seok is set to to direct it.

IU has already starred in several acting projects including The Producers in 2015, Hotel del Luna in 2019, Broker in 2022, and Dream in 2023.

Aside from her acting endeavors, IU will also be busy with her music career as she is set to go on a world tour this year for her "H.E.R." concerts.

The singer-actress will be staging the concert in the Philippines on June 1.

She will also be bringing the concert tour to Seoul,  Singapore, Yokohama, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Osaka.

Bo-gum headlined numerous acting projects in the past including Reply 1988 in 2015, Love in the Moonlight in 2016, Encounter in 2018, and Record of Youth in 2020.

In January 2023, Bo-gum signed an exclusive contract with a new agency Black Label.

"We have signed a management contract with Park Bo Gum, who is one of South Korea’s leading actors and who has been receiving the love and trust of the general public while switching back and forth between the small and silver screens," the agency said in a statement as reported by Naver and translated by Soompi.
