Hollywood actress and singer Selena Gomez shared her excitement as she announced the sequel to one of Disney’s most popular shows in the mid-2000s, Wizards of Waverly Place.

In an Instagram story, Selena shared an old photo of her and her co-star who played her brother in the series, actor David Henrie, as the two reunited for the series’ sequel.

“We’re back,” Selena wrote as a caption in her story.

She also shared a photo of a script with ‘Wizards’ and ‘Pilot’ written on it.

“Home again,” the ‘Love You Like A Love Song’ singer penned.

David, who will be reprising his role as Justin Russo, also took to his Instagram to share a photo of a script as the small-screen siblings teased their return to the popular series.

“The Russo’s are excited to become a part of your family, once again, but we’ve grown 😊 2024, the year magic comes back!” the actor wrote in his post before adding a magic wand emoji.

The actor also posted the report on his story with the caption: “Been wanting to talk about this FOREVER! Let’s have a (magical) 2024 y’all :) The Russo’s are back!”

Deadline magazine, in an exclusive report, revealed that Selena and David will also be executive producing the series.

However, the singer-actress will only guest star in the pilot as Alex Russo, while David will be a series regular.

The magazine also announced that there will be new cast members to join the series’ sequel, including stars such as Disney’s Just Roll with It's Janice LeAnn Brown, who will play Billie, Call Me Kat's Alkaio Thiele as Justin’s oldest son Roman, and American Princess's Mimi Gianopulos as Justin’s wife Giada.

Deadline also reported that the plot of the sequel as an expanded version of the original story.

“In the sequel, Justin Russo is all grown up, with a wife and two sons. Justin has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life. After a mysterious incident at WizTech, Justin gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training shows up at his door. He’s faced with a dilemma: Maintain his everyday life or embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World,” the magazine wrote in the report.

Disney has yet to announce the airing date for the series.

Wizards of Waverly Place ran for four seasons from 2007 to 2012.

The fantasy sitcom series created by Todd J. Greenwald followed the story of the three siblings (David’s Justin, Selena's Alex, and Jake Ausitin’s Max) of the Russo family, who tried their best to master their magical abilities as well as hide their real identity while navigating challenges as adolescents.

The series also had a movie version in 2009, on Disney Channel as well as a stand-alone television special, The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex, in 2013.
