After flying to San Diego, California earlier this year to perform in a show, singer Lyca Gairanod decided to experience dumpster diving which she shared in her recent vlog titled, “Dumpster Diving sa USA Gravi tinatapon nila.”

In the five-minute video, Lyca started off her introduction walking towards a nearby dumpster in the neighborhood looking for items to salvage and bring back home to the Philippines.

“So yun everyone, dahil andito na ako sa US ito yung pangarap ko. Kasi alam mo yun bibili ka ng gamit pero hindi ka kailangan magbayad. Trabaho ko yun dati eh. Yung makakita ng libre libre lang. Siyempre may mga libre lang dito. Siyempre nakita ko ito sa TikTok,” she admitted.

Lyca then proceeded to go inside the dumpster and immediately noticef a discarded washing machine and other electronic gadgets. “Ay! Hindi natin ito madadala sa Philippines. Very halata ito (laughs) Ito naman, mahal ito sa Philippines. Ano ba sira nito?’ Puwede ka dito kumuha kuha talaga. Hahanap pa kami guys ng maraming mga gamit pa,” she said.

Although she was hoping to get lucky and find a mobile phone , headset or other small electronics, Lyca saw mostly electronic accessories and a heavy appliance.

“Ito yung pinunta namin dito eh, hindi kami pumunta dito para mag-concert. Ay, pinuntahan namin itong dumpster. Naghanap kami dito. mag-search tayo ng magagandang dumpster. Mag-u-Uber kami tapos maghahanap kami ng mapupulot. Ito sayang ito eh, hindi natin ito makukuha. Baka sabihin nila dun, ‘Ano bang binubuhat buhat nung dalawang yun?’ (laughs). So mamaya maya guys, baka dumating na yung guard dito,” she shared.

Before leaving the dumpster, Lyca found a portable digital gadget for the TV to bring home. “So ang gagawin natin, ichi-check natin ito sa TV natin kasi wala tayong ganito eh. Mahal ito eh. Pang-TV yan. Hindi na kasi nagana TV natin eh,” she said. But after closer inspection, the teen singer decided to return the item back into the dumpster instead.
