As the "ber" months approach, which many consider as the start of the Christmas season in the Philippines, memes of Jose Mari Chan have starting popping out on social media.

The singer himself has seen the memes. "Nakikita ko 'yung [memes] and I really wonder who’s behind those memes, who created those memes. That started about what? 10 years ago?" he said in an interview with Unang Hirit.

Jose Mari remarked that he is thankful for being one of the figures of the Christmas season in the Philippines.

"Thank you very much for making me one of the symbols of Philippine Christmas," he stated.  

What meme of himself would he want to see online this Christmas season?

"I’d like to see a meme where I’m waking up early in the morning, and there’s a parol sa window, ‘Wow! It’s Christmas!'”

Meanwhile, Jose Mari is heading to Canada this November with the vocal group The CompanY for a series of concerts.

The CompanY's Moy Ortiz announced on social media that their group will be staging "Christmas In Our Hearts: Ilang Tulog Pa Ba? Pasko Na!" show in different parts of Canada including Vancouver on November 10, Edmonton on November 11, Calgary on November 12, Winnipeg on November 17, and Toronto on November 19.

Jose Mari is best known for his song "Christmas in Our Hearts" which is one of the biggest selling OPM songs in history.

In a report by ABS-CBN News in September 2022, Jose Mari shared what Christmas means for him as the Philippines kicked off the "ber" months last year.

"Christmas is at the center of our faith - celebrating the birth of the Baby Jesus," he said.

"Jesus was was born out of GOD’s LOVE for Mankind. Thus it’s the Season of Love."

He further highlighted that Christmas is about family unity.

"Christmas is portrayed in the image of St Joseph, Mama Mary and the Baby Jesus, The Holy Family. Thus, the Season of Christmas is the Season of family. Of family togetherness. Of family unity," he said.
