After returning to the country during the pandemic after being based in Canada, actress Abby Viduya has found love again in the arms of her very first boyfriend Jomari Yllana, who recently spearheaded a major motorsport event earlier this month.

Part of what makes their relationship work is about accepting Jom’s passions, even if it has its risks, according to Abby.

“When you love someone, you support all their dreams. And you do your best to be beside them when they want to grow. So this passion of Jom, at first,I didn’t understand. Of course racing is dangerous. But then, when the last time he raced, nakita ko naman how much he loved it. And after the first two rounds, when he opened the window, makikita mo sa face niya, it’s like a kid in Disneyland. So how can you stop someone from doing that right? I support him 100%, all the way.

“Whatever he wants to do in anything. I never made kontra with anything he wants to do, or anything he wants to pursue. Actually sabi kong ganun, ‘When are you going to teach me?’ (laughs). But the only problem is, when the vehicle is going super, super fast, I fall asleep (laughs),” she shared.

Nearly three decades after they first met as teens starting out their careers in showbiz, Abby said she can definitely say true love never dies, as is the case with her and Jom.

“From my experience, it’s true. I think kasi with me and Jom we were first boyfriend and girlfriend right? I think every time I had a different relationship after him, I was always looking for something. Yun pala siya yung hinahanap ko talaga. Kasi when we were young, we were so childish and so innocent pa. So I think we had to go through all of our experiences to become the person we are today. I believe if we ended up getting married when we were young, we would’ve split up. It wouldn’t have worked. Kasi we both have to experience life. We’re both wild and free eh ‘di ba?” she said.

When they first started dating at the age of 15, Abby said she never imagined she would one day be walking down the aisle with the former Gwapings member turned politician.

“Never. Never in my wildest dreams (laughs). It’s a mutual decision. Maybe because we cannot be without each other. Like we can’t sleep apart, we can’t eat meals if we’re not together. Pareho kami. Hindi siya makakain pag hindi ako kasama and hindi ako makakain pag ‘di ko siya kasama so it’s a given na (laughs),” she added.

With their civil wedding set for November this year and a church wedding in the Philippines ideally set for 2024 or 2025, Abby shared why they decided to get married  in Las Vegas and why they are postponing their honeymoon for a later date.

“Probably we’ll stay in the US around two weeks and then balik kagad. We can’t stay away from the Philippines long because Jom has session. Hindi kami puwede magtagal. And then yung honeymoon namin will probably be after Christmas. The church wedding will either be in 2024 or 2025. Pero yung civil wedding namin is this November in the US sa Vegas.

“We wanted Vegas, actually it’s funny kasi ang gusto namin ang magkakasal sa amin si Elvis. Kasi Jom used to say to me, ‘Can’t help falling in love with you.’ It’s going to be very simple lang. It’s just a few family members. Sa honeymoon, we were discussing either Paris or in Jerusalem,” she revealed.

The 45-year-old actress also shared why she has yet to fully make a comeback in showbiz since returning to the country.

“I do work every now and then sa showbiz. But now I need to shed some pounds. Kasi during the pandemic ang sarap kumain di ba? that’s the only thing you could do eh. Let me lose some weight muna (laughs),” she admitted.
