Former actress Melissa Ricks recalled how her second birthing experience was a “little bit more traumatic” compared to her first one.

On Saturday, July 8, Melissa took to Instagram to describe the different emotions and physical pain she experienced at the time.

Melissa gave birth to her second child, Mikaela, earlier this year.

“My second childbirth was a little bit more traumatic. This time around I was terrified. Labor was super intense, it seemed like it went from 0-100 real quick! A lot of screaming and a lot of apologizing to the doctors and nurses (eksena ako masyado OR),” she recalled.

Even though she had the same doctors and hospital, the 33-year-old celebrity mom said it was completely different from her first birthing experience.

She added that they had to stay for ten hours in the recovery room because all the rooms in the hospital were occupied.

“I thought the hard part was over, but NO! I stayed 10 hours in the recovery room (Mika & I) because [the] rooms were all full. When we did get a room, We ended up staying in the hospital for 6 days after I gave birth. I thought we were going to go home the next day since [the] hospital was also full and I was fine,” she added.

Melissa also how scared she was for her daughter after her doctor advised them to stay in the hospital for a few more days due to her condition which would have caused permanent damage had she decided to go back home right away.

Melissa went on to share that the doctors explained to her and her husband that the blood type was different from hers, causing her newborn's Bilirubin levels to be dangerously high.

“It broke my heart, and I was so scared for Mika. I didn't know anything about this kind of condition, her Bilirubin levels were extremely high and may cause permanent damage. I didn't know that. What I knew as Jaundice could be dangerous,” she said.

“I thought all we needed was a little sun, which is normal for newborns. What we thought was 1-2 days ended up being 6 days. 6 days of holding her in our arms, barely any sleep,” she recalled.

Melissa shared that she was with her child throughout the therapy and it made her emotional. But fortunately, they made it through.

In an Instagram reel, Melissa also gave a glimpse of what her daughter had to go through.

“It was so hard and lots of tears from this momma, we made it through. We are stronger than we think Mommas,” she said.
