The children of Cherie Gil commemorated her birthday earlier this week, on June 21. Raphael and Bianca Rogoff took to their respective Instagram accounts to pay respects to their mother.

Cherie would’ve been 60 years old this year.

Raphael penned a heartwarming letter on his Instagram post which was dedicated to his late mother. He admitted that he has been missing the late actress “a little more than usual” during her special day.

“We should be dancing in the park and feeling the grass between our toes. Or celebrating over dinner and drinks, wondering, ‘where does the time go,’” he shared.

The actress’s son shared that it’s been less than a year since she passed away––adding how he hasn’t been “particularly keeping track” of the days.

“You moved on 321 days ago, with 1440 minutes in a day and you brushing my mind at least ten times, I’ve thought about you 46,224 times or something like that… not particularly keeping track. Even though I thought you’d be around till I’d help you put in dentures, you lived a life full of adventure. Full to the brim,” he continued.

Raphael confessed in his message that he “felt grim” for a while but thinking about his memories with his late mother turns his frown upside down.

“For a while life has felt grim, but I think of you and you give my frown a spin. We were always laughing. We still are. I carry you with me always, near or far, in my heart. Thank you for teaching me how to live, Momma! Happiest of birthdays,” he wrote.

Raphael ended his post on a high note as he knew Cherie “always knew how to dance to the music of life.” In his post, he shared various photos of his mother.

“I’m sure it’s a party wherever you are right now; ‘cause you always knew how to dance to the music of life :) I’m still learning from you,” he ended.

Meanwhile, Bianca uploaded an Instagram Reel on her account which showed various old clips of Cherie raising her children. In the video, she used her cover of the song “I'll be here in the morning” by Townes Van Zandt. Additionally, she mentioned that her half-brother, Jay, recorded the song with her.

“Happy birthday mom,” Bianca wrote.

Cherie passed away last year after battling a rare form of endometrial cancer.
