While Andrea Brillantes is known as an actress especially now that she can be seen in billboards and promotions for her latest iWant series Drag You & Me, what people might be surprised to find out is that Andrea’s mom Belle is equally talented, but in the field of sports.

Mabel Gorostiza, aka Belle Brillantes, is a four-time national record holder in freediving and recently represented the country at the recent AIDA Pool World Championship held in Jeju, Korea earlier this month which is a competition showcasing the talents of the world’s top freedivers.

During the four-day event, Belle and her companions competed against athletes from countries like China, South Africa, Poland, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, and Singapore.

In her post after the competition, Belle shared her thoughts on her performance in the 100 meter event.

“If you guys only knew how much I wanted this. For months, I tried and tried to pass the 50meter wall with no fins but always fell too short because I’m too scared. And for the last day of competition i did DYN (dynamic) with a surprising 100m silicone fins 😆. I never trained for this discipline , lol I don’t even understand what’s dyn to dynb 🤦‍♀️ but I did it 😎💪 And it’s because I’m surrounded by all these Champions of the world, my Philippine Teammates, my coaches and my family, friends, You all inspired me. And im giving myself a big hug. To be able to perform in the most stressful competition of all competitions , galing galing mo f@ck sh@t ka! Ugh gigil ako . So happy I got to to do this milestone at the world championship. And this reel, my God, I can’t even find the right words … to be able to dive side by side with them is Divine ❤️ this video is taken during our first practice/training in Jeju , doin no fins, sharing the pool with the world’s Bests!!!. Fyi , doin this DYN is unexpected not planned. I brought my silicone fins because I thought, just in case we do a fun dive with the Haenyeos 😉 thank you universe thank you to the Almighty 🙏🏽”

When not equally busy with their own commitments, Andrea bonds with her mom by freediving as well.

Last January, the mother and daughter pair enjoyed swimming together as seen in a video clip posted on Belle’s account. She wrote, “Sweet Child o mine. Giving some directions and small talk with my daughter here. I don’t teach freediving and not about to. Not really teaching her any techniques but more of giving her a push so she can dive with confidence and hold her breath a little longer 💙 a fun dive it is … @blythe @katawphl thanks to my Brodie @leslieguerrrero for the video. This Mermaid will be ready in no time 🧜‍♀️”

In another post, Belle refers to her youngest daughter as “MY CEO” in one post and shares posts on Andrea from time to time.

Andrea is the third daughter of Belle. She has two older sisters Kayla Ann and Nina and an older brother named Kismet.

Andrea made headlines this month after confirming her breakup with basketball player Ricci Rivero. The couple dated for a year.

Andrea admitted she was still in the process of healing during a recent guesting on Magandang Buhay.

“Normal lang naman na dapat namnamin ko tong mga feeling na ito para makapagheal ako ng maayos. Ayoko naman maging pretentious na makitrend lang na ‘I’m unbothered’ para lang masabi na [ako ay] unbothered queen. Aminado ako na nakakaramdam ako kasi tao pa rin po ako. Kahit andami kong gustong gawin pinipili ko pong piliin nalang yung sarili ko at mag-focus sa kung ano meron ako at sa mga taong nagmamahal sa akin,” she shared.
