“Yes, naghiwalay na po kami ng tatay ni Uno,” confirmed actress Rita Daniela in her recent interview with Boy Abunda. 

Rita revealed her pregnancy to the public back in June 2022. While unplanned, Rita has always considered her baby as a blessing. 

“You came just in time. You are God's greatest gift to me,” Rita wrote to her baby then. “You give me hope to make more dreams come true.”

“I shall do anything and everything that's best for you. Always,” she promised.

Rita gave birth on December 22, 2022, just in time for Christmas. She named her first-born Juan “Uno” Andres.

“Hi, my son,” she welcomed her unico hijo. “You’re the greatest Christmas gift that God has given me. You’re such a blessing to us. Your Tatay and I are so joyful to have you. Can’t believe I’m celebrating Christmas this way.. with you.”

Rita never disclosed the identity of her child’s father, aside from revealing that she had been in a relationship for quite some time with someone who wasn’t in the entertainment industry. 

“It's my decision not to share anything about us or about him to anybody because he's not a showbiz personality,” she said then. “He's a private person and our relationship has always been private."

They had been in a relationship for over four years before they decided to call it quits. 

“We really tried our best just like everybody else but it didn't work out,” she said. 

Rita shared that they did try to save their relationship, but it came to a point where they felt it best to part ways instead. Nevertheless, they parted on amicable terms and have chosen to remain friends for the sake of their son. 

“Pero ang maganda diyan, Tito Boy, we're good friends e, very very good friends,” she clarified. 

As she has once promised her son, she would do everything with his best interests in mind, and that included still maintaining a good relationship with her son’s father. 

Uno is now almost six months old. Rita shared that she and her son’s father have mutually decided to co-parent Uno and stay a family, despite the unconventional set-up. 

“We're doing our best to co-parent Uno,” she said. “I'm actually proud of ourselves kasi hangga’t maaga inaayos na namin siya para hanggang lumaki na si Uno, peaceful po kami and we can still be a family na wala na pong issue sa both sides.”

While she is happy being Uno’s mom, Rita admitted that settling down is still a dream of hers. 

“It's still one of my dreams na maglakad na naka-wedding gown,” she shared. “Of course, part pa rin 'yun ng aking pangarap.”

Nevertheless, Rita is in no rush and is perfectly happy being the best mom that she can be to Uno. 

“But now, not yet,” she clarified. “Kasi right now my focus is to be a better person and to be the best mom to Uno.”

It was in the same interview that Rita was asked if she felt any jealousy towards fellow actress Julie Anne San Jose, whose career is steadily on the rise.  

“Wala po,” she answered straight away. 

Rita shared that she had a healthy competition with Julie Anne, with zero envy towards the other’s successes. 

"Naniniwala po ako na we all have our seasons at ito ang season ni Julie,” Rita explained. 

For Rita, right now she is called to focus on being Uno’s mom. 

“Ang season ko ngayon is to be a full-time mom... to be the best mom to Uno,” she said.
