Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz are set to reunite for a new movie, six years since they last shared the big screen.

On Thursday, May 25, Sarah set her followers abuzz after she posted on social media photos of herself with John Lloyd taken at the Viva office. In the caption, the actress-singer, 34, seemingly hinted at a new movie project with John Lloyd with the use of a clock and video camera emojis.

Viva Artists Agency then confirmed their onscreen reunion in a social media post.

“LOOK: Our #AshLloyd hearts. @justsarahgph and John Lloyd Cruz in a new movie together? YES!!! #SOON,” their post read.

Sarah and John Lloyd first worked together on the blockbuster romance film A Very Special Love in 2008. The movie had two sequels: You Changed My Life in 2009 and It Takes A Man and A Woman in 2013.

Their last project together was the rom-com Finally Found Someone in 2017. While promoting their movie then, Sarah shared what she likes most about working with John Lloyd.

“He is always inspiring,” the Popstar Royalty said. 

“Sa lahat naman kasi na nakatrabaho ni John Lloyd na leading ladies lahat nagwo-work, ‘di ba? Kasi si John Lloyd believable talaga na actor at saka ‘pag gumaganap s’ya ng role, papaniwalaan mo na talaga na s’ya talaga ‘yung character na ‘yun. Minsan parang nadadala din kami sa galing n’ya!”

The reunion announcement comes on the heels of the massive success of Sarah’s live Big Dome concert celebrating her 20th anniversary in showbiz last May 12.

Her last major acting project was the drama film Unforgettable in 2019. Meanwhile, John Lloyd was last seen in Lav Diaz’s Historya ni Ha in 2021. 

As of this writing, no other details about their reunion movie has been announced, such as its plot, cast members, and target release date.
