The Chinese idol member took to his Instagram account to explain to his fans why he decided to leave as well.

Lucas joined NCT back in 2018 then its fourth official sub-unit, WayV, back in 2019.

“After much deliberation and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to part ways with the group NCT and WayV. I sincerely feel sorry for the members, and it is with a heavy heart that I leave behind a long-standing friendship. It has been nearly 8 years since I first joined the members, and I am deeply grateful for their care and support,” he wrote.

Lucas added that this decision was the “right” one he made for everyone who was involved.

“I will cherish these memories and never forget. I hope that the members will remember me as Huang Xuxi, not just Lucas. I genuinely love them and will always support them from the bottom of my heart. It took considerable time for me to reach this decision, and I believe this is the right decision for the good of all,” he continued.

Lucas revealed that he will be pursuing his solo career which was confirmed by SM Entertainment as well, in their official statement.

“Moving forward, I intend to muster the courage to face the fans who have been waiting for me and to pursue individual endeavors. I believe the best way to repay the fans who support me is by continuing to deliver outstanding performances. I will strive to become a more mature Huang Xuxi and an even better Lucas,” he said.

It was in August 2021 when the Chinese idol had to stop all his activities as he was involved in a controversy over his past actions towards his ex-girlfriends.

Shortly after this, Lucas posted a handwritten letter of apology on his Instagram followed by a statement from SM Entertainment announcing that Lucas would be halting his activities to reflect on his actions.

Apart from NCT and WayV, Lucas was also part of the superboy group, SuperM, alongside EXO’s Baekhyun and Kai, SHINEe’s Taemin, and NCT’s Mark, Ten, and Taeyong.

No official statement has been released by SM Entertainment if he will still be part of SuperM.
