Nam Joo-hyuk has enlisted in Korea's mandatory military service.

In a report by Naver as translated by Soompi, a source from Management SOOP confirmed the said news.

"It is true that Nam Joo Hyuk was accepted into the military police force. He will be enlisting in the police squad on March 20," the said source stated.

Back in December 2022, Management SOOP shared that Joo-hyuk was already waiting for his draft notice after he finished filming the upcoming series Vigilante.

According to reports, the Korean star applied in May of last year to the Capital Defense Command Military Police Group.

Joo-hyuk started as a model and later on made his acting debut in 2014 in the series The Idle Mermaid.

He rose to international prominence after starring in 2016 after starring in the series Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo.

Joo-hyuk was named one of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2021.

He further rose to international fame in 2020 with his show Start-Up and in 2022 with the hit series Twenty-Five Twenty-One.

His upcoming series Vigilante follows the story of a group of people investigating the existence of a vigilante group. The actor plays the role of vigilante Ji Yong on the show.

In an interview with Esquire in March, the actor opened up about his acting style.

"I always think about how not to be excessive when it comes to acting. I wonder how I can be not too excessive and how I can act as if that person is really alive," he said.

"Honestly, I do think that the viewers may be more engaged if I overdo it with my acting, but I want my acting to be natural like the way water flows. I want people to see my acting and feel [like it flows well] as if they’re watching the water in a river flow," he added.
