Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage shared his photo with Tony-award-winning theater legend Lea Salonga.

He met the Filipina singer during the Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends show at London's West End.

Iain also met three-time Tony awardee Bernadette Peters during the show.

"I'm so glad my 2023 included getting to see these two incredible women on stage- two of my very favorites and always have been!!! Thank you for an incredible evening!!!" the Young Sheldon star posted on Instagram.

Filipino followers of the young actor were quick to react to his post.

"Wow!! You had a photo with Ms. Lea Salonga!" one fan said.

"Two of my faves. Ian and Lea," another fan wrote.

The Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends is a tribute concert to late musical theatre legend Stephen Sondheim.

The show started with early performances on September 21 and is set to run until January 6, 2024, for the encore.

Aside from Lea and Bernadette, the show also stars  Christine Allado, Clare Burt, Janie Dee, Damian Humbley, Bradley Jaden, Bonnie Langford, Gavin Lee, Jason Pennycooke, Joanna Riding, and Jeremy Secomb, among others.

In an interview with London Theatre, Lea shared that performing Sondheim's work is special because "it's not just the vocal dexterity and the challenge your brain gets – he seems to have a direct line into your heart and he uses his massive intelligence to create a bridge from the actor to the audience."

She added: "It’s work of complexity, there’s nothing superficial about his stuff."

Meanwhile, Iain first gained popularity online in his YouTube series Iain Loves Theater, where he reviews musical stage shows. After his videos got noticed by the theater industry, two agents immediately expressed their interest in signing him.

He further catapulted to international prominence in 2017, when he was cast as a young Sheldon Cooper in the hit series Young Sheldon, which is a prequel to The Big Bang Theory.

Other television projects that Iain became part of were Law & Order, Big Little Lies, and Impractical Jokers.
