In real life, celebrity couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera will be celebrating a decade of marriage next year. In their latest film Rewind, the couple have been together much, much longer, having first met each other as students in grade school. Playing the role of John and Mary, Dingdong is an ambitious and moody husband while Marian is the devoted and patient wife, having given up her budding career as a chef in order to be there full time for her husband and their only son Austin.

After getting married, John’s priorities shift more towards his professional life, leaving his family in the background. Only when a tragic accident occurs is he finally given the chance for a do over in order to make things right again with his loved ones.

Supported by a talented cast of actors which includes real-life wife Marian, Dingdong’s acting really shines through as he goes through a wide range of emotions and realizations which really test his true acting prowess onscreen.

One highlight of the film is the scene of him as the grieving widower, which will definitely affect and tug even at the toughest of heartstrings. Other cast members who provide solid acting as the people in John’s life are Joross Gamboa, Coney Reyes, Sue Ramirez, Ariel Ureta, Lito Pimentel, Ina Feleo, and a very special role by an impressive Pepe Herrera whose subtle shift in nuances make all the difference in his scenes.

More than just writing it off as one of those reverse time travel films, Rewind tells a story that reminds us of why we always need to focus on what really matters in our lives. It teaches us why we shouldn’t forget to give importance and love to those who love us and those around us. It shows us how life doesn’t always have to be winning in order for it to be the most fulfilling.

It also gives viewers the closest thing to real-life sweetness between DongYan as they share intimate and simple moments inside John and Mary’s home which blend perfectly with the inclusion of Ben&Ben’s “Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay” in the film’s soundtrack. Rewind will make you leave the theater with all sorts of feelings, for love lost, love gained, and love found again.
