Rachel Alejandro revealed earlier this week through a post on her social media accounts that she is a step closer to becoming a citizen of the United States of America. She has been living in the USA for two decades already as a permanent resident of the country and was able to secure an appointment for an interview for her citizenship.

Rachel didn’t disclose any more details about her interview but was eager to share with her friends and followers about the journey that she went through in the past years.

“I just got an appointment to interview for my [US] citizenship! I’ve been a US permanent resident for the last 20 years but it wasn’t until the pandemic that the word 'permanent' actually became more true,” she wrote.

The 49-year-old singer-actress added that life abroad has been busy for her alongside her husband as she has performed in several concerts and auditioned and booked some work as an actress and commercial model.

“In two months, I will be 50. Some might say that’s too late to be starting a career from the bottom in a new country,” she added.

Rachel then quoted the speech of actress Michelle Yeoh who won an Oscar earlier this year to answer those who may have doubts about her career change.

“As Michelle Yeoh said in her Best Actress Award acceptance speech at the Oscars: 'For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof that dreams... dream big, and dreams do come true. And ladies, don’t let anybody tell you you are ever past your prime. Never give up,'” she continued.

Rachel shared that despite gaining a possible citizenship in the US, this doesn’t make her less of a Filipino––she is still proud of her roots.

“I fully intend to be a dual citizen but the American dream still beckons,” she ended.

Friends and family of the actress congratulated her in the comment section and shared their well wishes for the success of her upcoming interview.

It was just last year when Rachel flew back to Manila to stage a concert that was postponed for two years due to the pandemic. She was last seen iun the hit television series The Broken Marriage Vow where she played the role of Nathalia Lucero, friend and patient of Dr. Jill Ilustre played by award-winning actress Jodi Sta. Maria.
