After celebrating his father Dennis Roldan’s birthday earlier this month, actor Marco Gumabao said he and girlfriend Cristine Reyes just have low-key plans for the upcoming holidays.

“Okay naman. Of course Christmas is perfect. Well actually very busy ako this Christmas kasi unang una wedding ng cousin ko plus I have another wedding to attend. Grabe puro weddings, puro events. So Christmas is with the family. Usually kasi talaga pag Christmas dito lang kami ng family kasi we usually just come together. Kami naman ni Cristine, sasama ako sa kanya sa Baguio with her family naman after Christmas. But for Christmas, sa family ko,” he said.

After going public with their relationship earlier this year, Marco admitted things are going smoothly for him and Cristine, even though it really changed how he viewed his life and future.

“Well of course, we talk about the future pero in terms of that, wala pa naman for now. Wala pa kaming one year guys, relax lang muna (laughs). Pero mag-a-anniversary pa lang kami in a few months. So yeah we’re very excited. We had dinner. So we’re contemplating kung saan kami pupunta to spend our first anniversary. Depende kung wala kami parehong schedule on that month. So we’ll see,” he revealed.

Another new relationship Marco has also started building is with Cristine’s eight-year-old daughter Amarah, which the actor admits was not difficult to do.

“Actually it was very easy to build a relationship with her kasi very outgoing siya. She’s a people person. So she’s very talkative, she very fun to talk to. And bata pa lang si Amarah, I’ve seen her laging dala dala ni Cristine sa Tubig at Langis tapings namin. So hindi mahirap to build a relationship with her,” he admitted.

When asked if he was already practicing how to be a dad to Amarah, Marco did not deny that he was already up to the task.

“Well yeah, siyempre. Like yung mga friends ko inaasar ako. Pero it’s fun. It’s also a sense of responsibility. Kumbaga kung dati ako medyo happy-go-lucky. For the longest time I wasn’t in a relationship. But now of course everything was like 180 (degrees) for me which I like. Siyempre hindi na ako bumabata di ba? Tumatanda na ako. Mag-te-30 na ako sa 2024. So I’m turning 30,” he added.

Even though netizens are quick to point out his six-year-age gap with Cristine, Marco said it is a non-issue for them and their close circle of friends with the same situation like engaged couple Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque.

“Actually, tawang tawa kami kasi lagi kaming magkakasama, sila Dom, Bea, Cristine, tapos we have another non-showbiz couple na friends namin and kaming mga boys, kami yung mga mas bata talaga. So lagi namin inaasar sila na parang nasa bata ang true love (laughs). Siyempre asar asaran lang pero malay niyo totoo talaga (laughs),” he shared.

Marco also declined to answer when asked if Cristine was affected by her past relationships, especially with ex-husband Al Khatibi from whom she filed for annulment from in 2018.

“Siguro that’s for her to answer. But of course it’s normal to have bad experiences with past relationships, kahit na hindi kayo naging mag-asawa, kahit mag-girlfriend boyfriend lang kayo. Kumbaga, to each its own. Kumbaga magkakaiba ang mga relationships ng bawat tao. Siyempre may takot siya nung una kasi like she said, ayaw niya ng artista na. But I think na-prove ko naman sa kanya na hindi ako yung, I’m not the typical artista na lolokohin lang siya or just take advantage of her. So I think that’s one thing that she trusted sa akin,” he explained.
