Google released its "25 Years in Search: The Most Searched" list as the global company celebrates its 25th anniversary.

"This year, we’re celebrating the most searched figures and moments in 25 years of Google Search. From some of the world’s most iconic performances, to history-making breakthroughs, see the moments that have changed the world and inspired the next generation to come," Google remarked in a video it released on Monday, December 11.

Among the most searched people in the last 25 years on Google are Taylor Swift as the most searched songwriter, BTS as the most searched boy band, Lebron James as the most searched MVP (Most Valuable Player), Cristiano Ronaldo as the most searched athlete, and The Beatles as the most searched rock band.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s Coachella performance was the most searched performance, Spongebob Squarepants was the most searched cartoon, the cast of the Harry Potter films was the most searched cast, and Homer Simpson was the most searched Simpsons character.

"Typically with year end searches, we’ll do like a top trends of the year, but this felt like a time that we could do something a little bit different," Google Brand Studio Executive Creative Director KK Walker said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

She added: "When you start to see what people were searching for then or what they’re still searching for now, you start to see this incredible sense of progress. The lens of the story that we wanted to stick to was this sense of progress that we see in the world and of course, the eternal Google optimism that will come with that."

Netizens were quick to express their sentiments on the Most Searched List of the last 25 years.

Aside from the Most Searched List of the last 25 years, Google also released the Most Searched List for 2023. Shakira is the most searched musician, Barbie is the most searched movie, The Last of Us is the most searched television show, and Jeremy Renner is the most searched actor.
