Juan Karlos admitted that his song "Ere" was inspired by his breakup with Maureen Wroblewitz.

"Kung hindi obvious, ewan ko na lang! Well, I'm not really hiding anything, it's a super given thing that the whole thing was for a breakup. 'Ere' is one of the songs that I made for my relationship that ended, so that’s it," he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

"What part of the song? The whole song! Surprise!" he added.

It was in June 2022 when Juan Karlos and Maureen announced via social media that they had parted ways.

"Ere" became the first Filipino song to debut on the Spotify Global Chart.

It landed on the No. 177 spot with 1.22 million streams, according to a Chart Data report last October 8.

Meanwhile, on October 9, Chart Data PH reported that Juan Karlos had set a new record in Spotify Philippines charts history by achieving the highest single-day streams ever, reaching 1.393 million streams.

In a recent interview with CNN Philippines, the singer was asked about the online success of "Ere."

Responding with genuine surprise, he commented: "Honestly, I don't know. Actually, I'm surprised that it's doing well because when I write stuff like that, I don't have any expectations."

Notably, "Ere" is one of the tracks from Juan Karlos' latest album, Sad Songs and Bullsh*t Part 1, a project inspired by his experience of going through a breakup.

"I've gone through [it], everybody goes through it, and parang for me it so happened na I write music and it became parang word vomiting, putting melodies in all these emotions that I had at that time," he shared.

"That's why it's called Sad Songs and the b-word because the sad songs came after the breakup but then like I had so many love songs I wrote after our relationship ended. It really didn't make sense," he added.
