Days after the actor was put to rest after an unexpected death, reports came out saying that Matthew Perry refused to let his character, Chandler Bing, from the hit comedy sitcom Friends, cheat on Monica because fans “would never forgive him.”

Lisa Cash, who once guest starred on the popular comedy sitcom, shared in a new interview with TMZ last November 6, that her character was supposed to be a “hotel worker who would have an affair” with Matthew’s character, Chandler.

She revealed that the original story line was supposed to be, “Chandler will cheat on Monica, played by Courteney Cox, after an argument happened over his girlfriend having lunch with ex-boyfriend Richard, played by Tom Selleck.”

“I came in as a guest star and I was super excited.”

She continued, “The scene was Chandler and Monica were arguing in Vegas about having lunch with Richard. Initially in our script, Chandler goes up to the hotel room, orders room service and I bring it up [to him] as a hotel worker. We end up talking and laughing and connecting and Chandler ends up cheating on Monica with my character.”

Lisa also stated that they already rehearsed everything and was set to shoot the scene. However, things changed on the day before the shoot.

“The day before we were shooting in front of a live audience, I was told that Perry went to the writers and said the audience would never forgive [Chandler] for cheating on Monica. He was probably right! That would’ve changed possibly the course of the show and his character.”

Due to the changes, Cash’s character was cut from the episode but later on recast as a flight attendant in a scene with Ross, played by David Schwimmer, and Rachel, played by Jennifer Aniston, for the season five episode “The One in Vegas: Part 1” in 1999.

Lisa also recalled how comfortable she was working with the late Hollywood star.

“He was so likable and welcoming and just made me feel at ease. I had so much fun. It was so much fun doing the scene with him and it was easy.”

Actor John Stamos also shared on his Instagram a tribute post for the actor on October 31, describing his experience working with his friend.

“Matthew and I had been friendly long before ‘Friends’ So, when I guest starred as Zach, the prospective sperm donor for Chandler and Monica, I hung (out) with him a lot. Standing backstage, ready to make my entrance, Matt whispers, ‘The audience is going (to) go crazy when they see you! Get ready for some loud screams.’“

He continued, “I walk through the door… silence. I was so embarrassed. We finish the scene and as I start to slither back to my dressing room and quit showbiz.”

John said that Matthew walked over to the studio audience and told the crowd, “Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for John Stamos! You guys probably didn’t recognize him at first because he’s so much better looking in person!”

He ended the caption saying: “I never forgot that, and the world will never forget you. #ripmathewperry”

Last November 3, entertainment website PEOPLE reported that a private service for the actor’s funeral was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles near Warner Bros. Studios, where his Friends co-stars were in attendance.

Meanwhile, Athena Crosby, the late actor’s friend who had met with Matthew for lunch the day before his unexpected passing, also shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada how the actor was eager to make a movie about his life and wanted actor Zac Efron to play him.

“He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life. And he had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie. He said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version and that he was gonna ask him soon to do that.”

Crosby continued, “He was just looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction, and really championing that cause to help more people. So, he was so optimistic and happy about everything that he wanted to do.”
