Netflix released the trailer for the second season of the thriller-fantasy series Sweet Home starring Korean actor Song Kang. The global streaming giant announced that the show will premiere on December 1.

In the trailer, Kang's character can be seen being held captive. "We met at last. Cha Hyun-su, are you the savior who can end all this?" a man asks him.

"What do I need to do?" Kang's character replied.

The first season of Sweet Home tells the story of the residents of an apartment complex called Green Home who try to survive as the world gets infested by monsters. The series is based on the webtoon of Kim Kanbi.

According to a press release by Netflix, the second season of Sweet Home "follows Green Home survivors and Hyun-su each fighting to survive in new places, while other beings and mysterious phenomena emerge."

According to Netflix, director Lee Eung-bok consulted with webtoon writer Kanbi to expand the world-building this season.

"It is going to be a full-fledged apocalyptic drama. While season 1 portrayed tension and fear in the confined space of the Green Home, season 2 will be set in an open space with the introduction of a whole new group of characters and monsters," Eung-bok said.

Other actors who will be part of the second season are Lee Jin-uk, Lee Si-young, Ko Min-si, Jung Jin-young, Yoo Oh-seong, Oh Jung-se, Kim Moo-yeol, and Park Gyu-young.

"This season will present a world that diverges from the original webtoon. As the world expands, there will be more to think about," Jin-uk said.

Si-young added: "A vastly sprawling world awaits the characters after they leave Green Home. Everyone will go through major changes."

In an interview with Kang in March when he visited the Philippines for a fan meeting, Kang shared that his role in Sweet Home is his favorite role in his career.

"Right now, the character that's closest to me is [Cha] Hyun-su in Sweet Home. Right now, I'm shooting 'Sweet Home' and in this show, we're shooting a story that's really detached from reality. [Hyun-su] is the character that I'm pouring a lot of my time and energy into," he said back in March.

On what fans can expect in the second season, he relayed, "If season one was the story of how these different people grew and matured then seasons two and three would be the story of these people who have grown and matured."
