South Korean entertainment agency SM Entertainment recently announced that they will be making a big leap as they enter the European market in the coming months. This comes after the South Korean company entered an agreement with British production company MOON&BACK at their office in Seoul. 

SM Entertainment is set to officially invest more in global music and artists' Intellectual Property through this agreement with the British company. Apart from that, the two will join forces to create a new boy group that will penetrate the European scene.

Present at the strategic agreement ceremony was SM Entertainment’s CEO Jang Cheol Hyuk, Chief Business Officer Jang Yoon Joong, Chief A&R Officer Lee Sung Soo, and Creative Director Kangta. Meanwhile, MOON&BACK sent a total of nine executives from their company which included co-CEOs Nigel Hall, Russ Lindsay, Dawn Airey, and their music director Ben Karter.

MOON&BACK is a company which specializes in television reality shows and is based in London, England. Nigel is a producer who worked for several hit reality programs such as The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

The British company will be handling the casting of the members for the new boy group while the South Korean agency will be giving their knowledge on everything that’s related to K-Pop production––music, music videos, and choreography.

MOON&BACK is set to release the process of finding the new boy group through a six-part television series which is set to start in the second half of 2024. It will include the USA apart from South Korea and the United Kingdom.

Russ shared that they are “confident” with the agreement as it will pave a new way for television and the music industry. 

“We are confident that the combination of SM’s creative skills and MOON&BACK’s seasoned experience and curating skills in global entertainment will give birth to a new TV series that can enthuse music lovers around the world,” Russ shared.

SM Entertainment is home to some of the biggest boy groups in the K-Pop industry such as Super Junior, SHINee, EXO, NCT 127, WAYV, NCT Dream, and RIIZE, among others.
