Actress Aiko Melendez took to social media to pen a loving message for her boyfriend, Congressman Jay Khonghun, as they celebrated their sixth anniversary as a couple over the weekend.

On Instagram on Saturday, October 28, Aiko thanked her politician-boyfriend for being her “life partner” and “best friend.”

“Happy Anniversary, Baby! 6 years of being my best friend. Blessed to have you by my side—the one who protects me the most. Through Ups and Downs, you stood by me. And I am forever grateful for your love and support,” she wrote.

“Thank you for being my number-one fan and critic. You definitely keep me grounded. To more anniversaries to come till we grow old and still fab, I LOVE YOU much. @cong_jaykhonghun,” she added.

In addition to sharing a sweet tribute to Jay, Aiko also shared photos from their anniversary dinner with their families, including her kids, Andre and Marthena, from her past relationships.

“Anniversary Dinner with the fam bam. 6 solid years!” she wrote.

It was in 2018 when Aiko first confirmed her relationship with Jay. The 47-year-old actress was previously married to former matinee idol Jomari Yllana from 2000 to 2004, and to model-actor Martin Jickain from 2006 to 2010.

In an interview with Ogie Diaz in 2020, Aiko admitted that she and her boyfriend have been talking about starting their own family.

“Kung darating ‘yun. Hindi namin inaawat, hindi namin pinipigilan. Kung darating, blessing ‘yan. Hindi namin pipigilan. Pero kung wala, eh di wala,” she said.

"Pero nandoon kami sa proseso na pinag-uusapan namin na gusto ko i-freeze ‘yung egg ko. Para ‘pag dumating ‘yung time na gusto namin,” she admitted.

The actress also admitted that she’s open to the possibility of tying the knot with Jay in the near future, saying, “I still want to get married, of course. But I don’t want to be in a wedding gown at 50.”

“Time is ticking!” she added with a laugh.

That said, Aiko stressed that she is content with her relationship with Jay with or without marriage. She said she appreciates her boyfriend’s efforts not only towards their relationship but also as a father figure to her two children.

“They’re close. He’s the one boyfriend I had my kids found approachable. They go to him when they have problems. Marthena talks to him. He and Andre go out,” she said.
